In my opinion this place should NOT be called a community center. The costs of memberships are so high as to exclude even those who would be classified as middle class. Although even if the membership rates were more reasonable there are not any fitness classes or open swims available after 5 pm. So the only folks in the community who can utilize the facility are retired or independently wealthy. I remind the powers that be that a "community" includes a variety of people with a diverse socioeconomic portfolio and diverse work schedules. It is nice to have the lessons and swim meets for the kids in the community. But do they have to have the entire pool area every week night to the exclusion of all the other major demographics of people in Fort Bragg? Also, what is with the herding of people during splash/slide/swim? Every person there has to be doing the exact same activity all together until that activity closes and the next one begins and then everyone has to go do that activity. That to me is absurd! I thought if I could I understand the thinking behind that decision it would help because I just...

Read moreThis swim lesson program is a complete waste of time and money. Their shocking 28% cancellation rate means you're frequently paying for classes that don't happen, and don't expect a refund for those missed sessions. Even worse, after several lessons, my child hasn't even been taught the basics of swimming, unlike other programs where kids are in the water and practicing by the third or fourth lesson. The lessons feel completely unstructured, and despite the coach claiming over 30 years of experience, she seems to have no idea what to do with the children. The already short 30-minute class is further reduced by 5-10 minutes of mandatory showering and check-in at the start. Forget about arriving early, as the class is scheduled right when they open. To add insult to injury, they have no problem waiting until you've wasted your gas to get there before canceling at the last possible moment. Save yourself the frustration and find swim lessons elsewhere – this program...
