Be AWARE. My husband and I have stayed at several âBaymont by Wyndhamâ establishments as we traveled from the east to west coast. Our experiences with Wyndham hotels have always been positive. I did look at the one picture of our room, which showed the king-sized bed and window (not our room). There were no other pictures offered and I wrongly assumed the rest of the room would be up to the standards which I had come to know as âWyndhamâ. Here is my honest review for room 110 and the amenities provided by this hotel. The room was extremely small and had a king-sized bed, one hard plastic chair, one end table, and typical hotel size appliances. Surfaces to place your belongings (keys, watches, rings, cell phones, reading glasses, book, etc), consisted of one shelf under the only end table in the room. We used the ironing board as a makeshift table for our coffee cups. Inconvenient, yes, but since we were going to be sightseeing most of the day, doable. The bed linen and towels were clean. The bed was somewhat comfortable, however, it was on a metal frame. Accidentally bumping your foot against the sheet of metal around the base of the bed made a loud, thunderous, echoing noise. The exterior door did not have weatherstripping at the bottom, allowing for a 1 1/2 inch gap for cool night air, insects, and noise to easily enter the room. The electrical appliances (small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker), in the room were functional. We did not use the wall mounted television, nor the DVD player wedged between the tv and the wall. The room itself was basically clean, with the exception of the cobwebs on the ceiling above the bed and what appeared to be mold on some of the grout in the shower. The metal floor drain in the small shower was caved in and posed a potential risk for injury. The set of black out curtains on the windows were effective, although they were not a matched set (different lengths and color). The advertised âfree breakfast of waffles, fruit, cereal, and more,â was non-existent. You had your choice of âbreakfast barsâ and apples (some were old and bruised), with your morning cup of coffee. In writing reviews, I also feel like I should provide some suggestions to the owners. This room should have a queen-sized bed, fix the drain in the shower, match the black-out curtains, provide a second night stand if room allows, provide a second folding chair, adjust your website to accurately reflect the breakfast you provide. I am sure there are building codes and restrictions as to what you can do structurally, but consider converting one or two rooms into a breakfast area where people can sit at tables inside when the weather is not conducive to outdoor eating. A larger breakfast area may allow you to provide the type of breakfast you currently advertise. Bottom line for us, this room was âOKâ for a 1-2 night stay. The price should reflect what the room and amenities are worth. In the current condition Iâd say...
Read moreThe room was cramped and lacked the little conveniences that make for a comfortable stay. The only furniture in the room was the admittedly comfortable bed and one nightstand - no chairs or table/desk. So, no place to sit and eat a meal or to put your personal items. No wastebasket in the bathroom and only one tiny towel rack to hold six towels. No other hooks or racks to hang clothes or wet towels to dry. No mirrors except a small one in the bathroom. No lighting in the dim, walled-off shower. A continental breakfast with only coffee, a few apples/bananas, and vending machine danish.
I had high hopes after Wyndham acquired and "renovated" this property. The only signs of renovation were a new sink/toilet/lamps and a slapdash coat of interior paint. Otherwise, the interiors were a bit shabby and worn, and various things didn't work. The bathroom window wouldn't stay open, and the bedroom window wouldn't stay shut - in the middle of winter. The bathroom door constantly got stuck. The heat stopped working during our winter stay (although the management fixed it the next day, to their credit). Also, like many motels, the front door is paper-thin and you will hear all conversations, car noise, the neighbor coughing and spitting right outside your door during COVID times, and the music that starts playing from the parking lot PA system at 6:30am (why?).
The worst part was the strong cigarette smoke smell in our "non-smoking" room. At first I thought it was from previous guests smoking in the room, but then I spotted an ashtray unfortunately situated right outside our door. All of the staff were taking their smoke breaks there, and it was getting in through the drafty door and the window that wouldn't close.
While the managers are nice people, you should avoid getting a room near their unit (#105) at all costs. It has an outside loudspeaker with a remote chime for the lobby doorbell/phone. You will hear it go off constantly at all hours of the day and night through those paper-thin doors.
I thought I was getting a good deal, but I wouldn't stay here again. Next time I will pony up a little more dough to stay at a property that's better-maintained and more...
