Meijer is okay. It's pretty much the only local grocery store....the frustrating thing about this store is they are often out of stock especially on sale items! Or I might only be able to purchase one, the last one on the shelf! I would have thought by now that stock issues would be resolved but they are not. They have a rain check they can issue but there are so many strings attached to it I don't even bother to ask for them because nine times out of 10 the item will not qualify! I do not feel the customer service Representatives work in a friendly enough way with us customers. There stands to be a lot of improvement in that regard. I do find the employees who are out on the floor stocking the shelves are extremely helpful, oh yes indeed! I do like that! They will go into the back of the store to look for items for you which is very much appreciated! I do wish the variety of different brands was broader than what it is but perhaps since this Meijer is a smaller store that may be the reason why. I will address self checkout. I prefer cashiers! I do not work for Meijer, I am a customer, and I feel there should be a cashier to check us out but usually there are only two that are open in the lines are extremely long! I feel as if I am paying top dollar for what I buy and I'm also having to work at Meijer by ringing my own groceries up and trying to apply coupons and I'm always meeting help at a self checkout every time I use it which is very frustrating and makes my check out time even longer. I think Meijer should hire and maintain more cashiers working than just two at a time! I think there should be a bonus if we do self checkout! After all, we do not work for Meijer so why do we have to do the job of a cashier but we don't get any type of savings for doing it on our own! I definitely have an issue with the extremely limited cashiers that are open anytime I am there any time of day! Check out goes much faster with a cashier because they know what they're doing, able to remove items and correct prices when they come up in the computer as wrong where I have to wait three, four, maybe five times for a customer service rep to come over and fix whatever it is as I do self checkout which is uncalled for! Many sale prices do not come up correctly or the price on the shelf will say for instance, $4.99 and in the self checkout it will show up as $6.99, so I need assistance yet again! Another issue is the self checkout computer will stop working after a certain amount of time and that I need that customer service rep to turn that register back on again! It frustrates me and takes up too much of my time! Again, if I'm going to do self checkout and I should either get a percentage off my total bill or coupons applied to my next shopping trip! And let's not forget the issue about all of the out-of-stock items that happens for every sale item and even everyday items as well, such as coffee creamers and heavy whipping cream and many other major brands that have not been in stock for the last six or more months! Meijer uses a computer system and is able to keep track of everything that is sold so there should never be any issue with any items that are out of stock! This is a repeat problem every time I go into the store. Yes, I only give Meijer a 3 star out of five, a 50/50 rating due to all of the above. I will mention again the employees on the floor who do work with stock are beyond amazing! They are the hardest of workers...
Read moreOnce again the ebt and debit card reader was down at Meijers at least in Fort Gratiot. This is a problem with Meijers and has been in the past. Meijers could at least post a sign on the door so that one doesn't waste their time shopping as I don't usually carry the cash needed to pay the exuberant prices being charged today that the distributers and meijers charge under the pretense of covid.
This store would get zero stars however google forces you to apply at least one.
Two situations I will address:
The first is why is it every time this Meijer has a sale by Friday afternoon or sooner there are no sale items left on the shelves? Especially the popular items from a certain brand. If you shop this Meijer be prepared to pick up numerous rain checks if they will still give you one and also be prepared to spend considerable time at the customer service center as the center is grossly undermanned. Long waiting time in the checkout line is also certain as Meijer will not hire or provide hours to those who want to work, meaning that the few checkout lines open are always long. Meijer’s will not utilize people to bag groceries either also adding to the lengthy wait times in the checkout lanes.
Second issue is of serious concern to those who rely on the Bridge Card to purchase their family’s food. Meijer representatives claimed yesterday that the State wide EBT system was down again for the fourth day in a row. This is/was a complete lie. The system was down at Meijer, which is Meijer’s problem that apparently they do not care to fix. The State wide EBT system was running when it was down at Meijer’s. I shopped at Gordons Food Service just before and Walmart just after going to Meijer’s and the EBT system was working just fine in both of these retailers.
Maybe Meijer’s thinks people who use food stamps are not worthy of shopping at this store. I suggest that people who depend on EBT to assist their food income shop Gordons Food Service and Walmart where they will be treated with respect. I saw a young mom who had to leave her full cart at Meijer’s because the Meijer’s system was not working, nothing was wrong with the State...
Read moreI used to enjoy shopping here. I am in this meijer all the time and over the last year in particular it has really gone down hill. I have had to deal with a couple rude cashiers. One I was so rude and I was so upset I did contact company most I just let slip. Lately every time I'm in to get groceries I am constantly running into people with dogs. Not service dogs, not trained dogs no just people that think they need to bring there pet everywhere. Well I dont appreciate shopping for food and watching a dog put his nose in the shelfs on the food. Or barking at people when they walk by. Really isn't it supposed to be a clean place to buy food. This last trip there were a few dogs in the store at once. One long haired dog a guy was carrying was shedding and hair was floating in the air when he walked by. (Oh and I was in the fresh baked area) nothing says good food like dog hair on the package. Nice. I didnt even finish my shopping. Just got what was in my cart and left. Glad there watching out for allergies to dander and food safty. So sad. I understand service dogs but this is crazy. A worker told me that they have to let anyone with a dog in. No questions asked. So if ya like dog hair on your food shop here. I cant say I wont be back but I will think twice...
