I feel obligated to warn people from committing to a lease with management that treats residents like guests of the cheap road motel rather than creating a safe place for them to live and feel at home.
I lived there for three years, and I think this building has never been in worse shape than it is now. I was made to pay for a parking pass even though I have not had a car the whole time living there, just so everyone else from the area could park the car at my expense since the gate was constantly broken, probably for 2 years out of the three years I lived there. It caused many car breakings and a few neighbor's bikes stolen. It would be easy to find people responsible for it, If only cameras in the garage ever worked. There are no cameras in the hallway, so people feel it's not their responsibility to clean after thier dogs. Dog pees and droppings everywhere. Unsanitary. No notes were ever sent to the owners since no cameras to figure out who was responsible for it. If you have a dog and care about their health you would need to carry them through the hallway or watch them like a hawk so they don't get any bacteria from all the droppings in hallways. This is the type of people, dog owners, you will be living next to.
Security does not exist, we had homeless people braking into apartments, sleeping comfortably on hammocks outside or couches inside. They failed to do a background check on some residents creating an unsafe environment to live in. We had to deal with pyromaniac and for months being woken up by a fire alarm in the middle of the night. Stolen packages, or even if not, prepare for a fun game of running around the building to figure out where your packages are because they rarely make it to the package room, or are sometimes moved there by management which does not sends you a notification with a code for which you pay additional fees. You like the gym? As resident be ready to fight for spot with people from all the buildings around that come to enjoy it for free. The same with fifth floor amenities, vandalized so many times by teenagers throwing parties sometimes for over 100 people. Sinks, pool table, golf simulator broken and other furniture and decoration broken after the rage. Young adults and teens doing drugs openly on fifth floor because why not since none of them lives there? Why the 5th floor is not locked after a certain time, I dont know. Why there is no concierge when building front door are open, I don't know. Why they got rid of the security guard that was coming on weekends, I don't know. But they sure didn't lower fees for having you to deal with all this bs.
Not once management apologized a felt need to reimburse people for fees of the things they are not receiving.
Gates are constantly not working, there is always a way to get into the building without the fob.
Moving out is not easy either, remember to take all paperwork and have signatures. We had two apartments rented and were saying that we wanted to move to one and not extend the lease on apartment we used for home office, everything was agreed upon until we went to confirm about the month before the end of the lease and they said we failed to give them written notice and are 2 days delayed so was charged additional one month worth of rent because their untrained staff didn't tell me to do it. Even after 3 years of renting two apartments, never paying late, never being a cause of any issues we were charged one month worth of rent for being two days late, while they promises were never delivered and are still not delivered unti today.
This building had great potential but was ruined by greedy and unprofessional management who in three years turned luxurious building to a disgusting dump.
The fact that there was no major accident in this building with all the saftly violations is shocking.
Please do yourself a favor and move elsewhere, until they start respecting residents and have thier needs and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI strongly advise against renting an apartment at West End at City Walk. My experience here has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing within my two years of living there.
First and foremost, the lack of communication from the management team is appalling. Any attempt to get in touch with them is met with delays, if not complete silence. Important issues are left unresolved for weeks, leaving tenants in the dark.
The management is both incompetent and unresponsive. They fail to address concerns in a timely manner and often seem indifferent to the problems faced by residents. The customer service is terrible; every interaction feels like you are being given the run-around. Simple requests are met with vague responses, and there's a general lack of accountability.
Overall, the service provided does not match the high rent prices. If you value effective communication, competent management, and quality customer service, I recommend looking elsewhere. West End at City Walk has proven to be a regrettable choice.
Updated: The management clearly does not prioritize the well-being of its residents. Here are some of the major issues Iāve experienced:
Non-Functioning Security Systems: The security gates are often broken and left wide open for days, giving anyone easy access to the property. Surveillance cameras either don't work or are poorly positioned, providing little to no coverage in critical areas like entrances and parking lots. Poorly Lit Areas: Many parts of the complex, especially the parking lots and walkways, are dimly lit or not lit at all. This creates a very unsafe environment, particularly at night. No Responsive Management: Iāve reported multiple safety concernsālike broken locks on main doors and suspicious activityāonly to be ignored or told itās ānot a priority.ā There seems to be no urgency in addressing resident safety issues, which is extremely concerning. Frequent Break-ins and Vandalism: Break-ins to both apartments and cars are unfortunately common here, and the complex does nothing to increase security or offer any reassurance to residents. Many people have lost valuables, and some have even moved out because of the unsafe conditions. No Security Presence: Despite the high frequency of criminal activity, thereās no visible security personnel on-site. Residents are left to fend for themselves, and it feels like the complex simply does not care. If you're considering moving here, I strongly urge you to think twice. Your safety is not a priority to the management, and it's only a matter of time before you or your property could be at risk. There are plenty of other complexes in the area that take security more seriouslyāthis is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I have had the greatest experience with West End! Cortney and her team have been a delight to work with. From the very first day we toured back in March, she was easy to reach, extremely knowledgable and can do about all of our questions and needs. She has made this process very enjoyable, and does a great job sending updates and posting on social media to get us excited for our new home! I would highly recommend checking out West End if you're looking for a beautiful property, fully equipped with luxury amenities, access to amazing food and activities, complete with a staff that cares about you and creating a tight-knit community for the residents! We can't wait to move in! Laura & Nate :)
EDIT** 2/26/22 I wanted to add this to my review, because I would feel horrible if anyone searching only saw the good (before we had even moved in) Living at West End has literally been a disaster. After moving in, we understood things were still in transition-thatās to be expected for new builds/delays etc. but now almost 7 months into living here you can believe in EVERY BAD REVIEW. We loved our old management company and ever since Hawthorne took over itās been awful. No one ever knows where packages are, nasty hallways, NO SECURITY. Like legitimately my husband walked downstairs to a homeless man sitting in our first floor hallway. doors are never locked, cars are being broken into, TVs stolen out of our amenities center. Honestly I donāt understand how this is still considered luxury. Yes the amenities are pretty, and overall the building aesthetic really attracted us butā¦after almost 8 months living here to have no fire pits, no grills, no security, and now to hear our rent is about to go up something ridiculous. We are over it.
Again, we are all for being understanding during new builds and what that looks like-but the residents safety has never been a priority. Not to mention the fact that weāre paying moneyā¦.for what? Unclear.
So again-before moving in our experience with ZRS Management was great. I just wouldnāt feel right not updating how things have been since living here almost a year. Come July 1st we most definitely will be leaving because we donāt see anything changing and have not once been led to believe they have any plans of making changes. They are great at telling you what you want to hear, I assure you. But itās all smoke and mirrors.
There are TONS of other places to live-would not recommend West End at City Walk.
