Steve B Waterfront Cafe — Restaurant in Fort Myers

So, this was an odd experience. This definately has a dive feel, but also the feel that this place doubles as a storage unit and is also the "rec room" for whomever owns this place. It's September, and there is a Christmas tree in the corner. Not sure if they start celebrating early, or just real late taking down decorations. We are new to the area. My wife having lived in Germany wanted to explore a "bier garden". This establishment was recommended by google. However, i've never been to a "bier garden" that had nothing on tap. I asked for a beer (bottle) in their display case, as did my wife. (diffrent brands). They had neither. We were probably fortunate that they did have our 2nd choice. We ordered food, it was nothing to write home about. Mind you, it wasn't bad, but they offered me nothing I couldn't do at home... much better. The staff was friendly, and the other patrons were also very friendly and outgoing. Our waitress was very attentive and we appreciated that. Our waitress was not equipped with the best tools, but she did the best with what she had. As I mentioned before the decor was old and had a cluttered feel. The seats were extremely uncomfortable and gives the impression that they want you the hell outta there ASAFP. I give 3 stars, mostly on their effort of the waitress. Not sure we will return... unless John Taffer and Bar Rescue makes...

OK. The sign outside says voted best burgers, I have no idea who these voting people are... maybe a few of the regulars that enjoy drinking there with the also drinking cook/owner... who knows!!

The burgers were absolutely freshly made outside in front of us on a charcoal grill which I thought would be very cool. But It was nothing more than just some ground meat pressed into a patty with very minimal bacon on them and served to us roughly an hour later with our tiny and I mean tiny sides of cole slaw and baked beans. The sides were served in a plastic cup similar to what you would get at a fast food restaurants to put your ketchup in with one of those plastic lids. I asked for both of the burgers to be cooked medium and we received both of them cooked well. A woman later asked if they were cooked medium and I told her far from it with a simple reply from her of "ohhh".

$28.00 for 2 burgers with the tiny tiny tiny sides, one bottle of Miller lite, and a can of sprite. 😡

Typically I am not one to write a bad review and I would much rather take it up with the people at the business but in this case I know for sure he did not care how I felt so I'll do it this way. I will tell you I will absolutely never eat there again.

It's not so much fun as it used to be. Melissa does not work here anymore. Worst of all, she has moved to coastal Oregon in July 2023. The new server was not as friendly and not as fun as Melissa was. Food was good, but the atmosphere; not so good anymore now.

Update; Working here and visiting specific servers here is worse than at the Indigo room, servers here last on average about 3 weeks before they leave and are replaced.
