The last review I left was 2 years ago and had nothing but great things to say about this place. BUT things change. Before the so called remodel my family and I use to visit often. We loved it. We loved the fact that we could go upstairs and we loved the little room downstairs that had steps. It was like a little adventure. We were told the upstairs was being renovated and we were told the court yard was being renovated. We went last week and were VERY disappointed. We will NEVER visit again. I'm not sure what "Remodeling" took place but we didn't see any of it. The upstairs is closed down permanently. The little room is closed down permanently. The court yard is closed down permanently. Everything is packed in to the first floor. It's FREEZING in there... They have one heater and it only reaches one spot in the whole building. Most of the stuff we wanted to buy didn't have prices on them and the one's that did were ridiculous in price. Everything was way too packed in and I felt like I was suffocating in there. What Remodeling did y'all do because I didn't see any of it. The lady running it use to be so nice and helpful. What happened because she wasn't rude per say but she acted like she hates her job and wasn't...
Read moreLove to stop in, to reminisce of the old days . In the sixties and seventies it was a thriving sock mill . Where the kids in the neighborhood would run back and forth ,to play on the bridge from the mill to the road. And climb down into the ditch and walk under the road to the other side. And not get in trouble for crossing the street. There was a phone booth on the corner. It was a busy place , where the same people worked every day from 7 : 00 until 3 : 00 and a whistle would blow. Then 2nd shift would. Each day was a routine. And everyone new where you were all the time. And looked out for you. This was the good old days. Parents didn't worry about the children, because everyone new Who You were. And if you weren't from there, we new that too. But now it's a good place to get lunch and pick up something for a friend. Stop in you will find it has something...
Read moreWell me and my boyfriend love to go "picking". We looked yesterday for Antique shops in Ft Payne and we were excited when we found this one opened on Sundays 1-4, well at least that is what the internet has listed. We drove all the way from Birmingham to check it out only to find that is was CLOSED!!!! We waited in the parking lot untiil 1:30, along with another couple from Georgia, only to realize it is not going to OPEN on Sunday. In cases like this I think the owner needs to reimburse for GAS and TIME WASTED!!!! Needless to say I am really frustrated and would NEVER make another trip to this place!!!! Just a few ideas, place a sign on the door, update the internet or just common courtesy show up to work if your are supposed to be open, change the recording on the answering machine stating days...
