Many people say they would give a place a zero star if they could. I would say this place at least deserves the one star for being quaint and a "spot" to get some work done on your laptop akin to the internet coffee cafes of old. Also, being what you would assume is primarily a coffee shop, food offerings are not expected to be great. With that said, don't waste your money. Neither the food nor the coffee was any good. From the bottom, the avocado toast was literally a single piece of Wal-Mart bread with unripe avocado and some bacon pieces for $5.50. The grilled cheese was about what you would expect from any kid's menu, coupled with the tasteless soup of the day (bulk prepared), cheddar broccoli, which to be honest, was fine as a base but was missing the all-important quality, flavor. The Nutella banana toast was the same single piece of Walmart bread, a small slather of Nutella, probably a tablespoon, and a few slices of overripe banana, as was obvious across the table not only from the darkened color but the mushy texture seen by the eye. The silver lining, and the reason for about half of the one star was the turkey pesto. Not better than what you can make yourself at home from the same Wal-Mart ingredients mind you but at least decent. Not for a whopping $9 dollars for what equates to a heavy snack but not a complete failure. Lastly, the macchiato tasted like watered down milk with a hint of flavoring and maybe a sniff of coffee which just might have been the establishment itself. If you like pissing your money away to experience the last gasp of the "hippest" coffee joint of a small town, this is...
Read moreI really want to love this place and I have been here many times, but I'm sorry it's just not worth it. My most recent visit consisted of 2 kids sandwiches, A Bagel with Cream Cheese, Avocado Toast, 3 hot chocolates and a Signature Spot frozen coffee. ($45) The food came out before the drinks, which is not the end of the world. The kids sandwiches were not really kid size which is fine I guess, but it was just dry bread with a slice of cheese and some ham/turkey. No butter, or mayo. No lettuce or tomatoes or anything. A childs portion should just be smaller, not void of any flavor or quality. (All restaurants are guilty of this) The avocado toast was actually good, but crazy small. And if you are going to serve bagels and cream cheese get knives to spread it with. A soup spoon is a rediculous thing to give someone to spread cream cheese. The hot chocolate was barely tepid, it was body temperature at best. This place could be amazing, the setting is great and it is clear they are trying but I'm sorry, it's just not good enough for the money they charge. If this were my first experience like this I would be more inclined to believe it was a one off but I have been in here several times. If you are going for just drinks, and have lots of time, it's not so bad but on the whole, it needs some serious improvements! Why do I go back.... proximity and a serious lack of options...
Read moreI really, really want to love this place. It’s funky, I love the space, it has a great vibe. They have my favorite brand of chai, they have almond milk, and my son is obsessed with the milkshakes.
But the kids who work here cannot seem to get an order right, and it seems to apply equally no matter what day or time of day we go. No matter how many times we ask for no cheese, or almond milk, we get cheese, we get regular milk, or we get almond milk but then they put whipped cream on top when I didn’t know the drink came with whipped cream. I asked for iced, I got hot; I asked for hot, I got iced. Does their ordering/register system not allow for these types of specifics or are they just not paying any attention?
Recently we came in and ordered breakfast, then sat for twenty minutes before being told that they in fact had no eggs at all. On another occasion, my boyfriend ordered a coffee with almond milk (it’s not out where you can just pour it yourself) then asked for some almond milk after getting the coffee, then we waited several minutes before realizing that for some reason, they were making him an entirely new coffee and making me a second one of the beverage I’d ordered. We were baffled.
We’d really like this to be our regular place but we are pretty close to sadly giving up on...
