Atwoods — Local services in Fort Smith

One only cause you have to give a rating to review. We went into the Fort Smith store today, bought a gun safe. Paid 760.00 had a wonderful cashier that made sure they gave her the serial number so that it was on our receipt. This was a hassle cause her coworkers didn't want to help. Then went around to the side where 4 employees come out with a forklift to load. The safe weighted 400 pounds and we wanted it laid down so that we could get it out safely when we got home. After they said it would mess it up to lay it down we looked it up and it didn't seem to be a problem. So we said we would take the risk. Then they said it was policy not to lay them down. The sign upfront on the safes said any safe over 600! So we said just take it back we will return. Go in wait on manger to get back from the lunch and she didn't seem concerned to loose our business or follow what her signage says on safe. Very unprofessional key holders and manger. The customer service and cashier ladies were super helpful and concerned, they seem like they deserve a better place to work. Atwood's is GREAT! Have been there many times buying different items. I wish I knew the lady's name, but I was there wanting to buy my wife a set of Turquoise earrings. This lady was very helpful and SO patient with me looking at what was available. The ones I was originally looking at didn't quite seem like true turquoise and she agreed. I imagine I spent a good 15 minutes just trying to make up my mind. She suggested a pair that was nice but I didn't know if my wife would like them. I asked the price and nearly fell over when she told me for they were three times the price of the ones I was looking at. I told her I could not pay that. After she checked with a manager, she found that they could sell them at the price of the ones I was originally looking at. That made me happy and ultimately made my wife happy Christmas Eve.

Returned home to get pick up truck in anticipation of purchasing a 3pc bar height bistro set. On arrival at the store my husband and I loaded the TWO BOX set. The boxes were clearly marked Box 1 of 2 and Box 2 of 2. One box for the table and the second box containing the two chairs. At the register the cashier scanned both boxes and when I pointed out the manner in which the boxes were marked the cashier said, Well they both rang up at $299.99. in a disinterested tone and was clearly not about to take any action to clarify the situation such as calling the manager, etc. I can, and now will, purchase this very same set from Amazon; and people wonder why more customers don't shop local. I tried and the dismissive attitude of the cashier nipped that in the bud given she was only at work to collect a check. She, in her position as a representative of Atwood's, has left me with such negative feelings that I am unlikely to shop Atwood's...
