Farmers Market Direct — Local services in Fort Smith

MY VISIT TO FARMERS MARKET DIRECT

I had a chance this week to drop in on Farmers Market Direct on Highway 71 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Located at 6500 US-71, Fort Smith, AR 72908.

I had driven by it many times but it always seemed closed. I was pleased to find out that a few weeks ago they had opened their doors to the public and were now going from delivery only to delivery and retail store hours 10 am to 6 pm four days a week Wednesday through Saturday. So stopping in I immediately saw that they had something to offer that the BIG BOX GROCERS did not have. It's like a one-stop shop the BEST OF FORT SMITH.

They have a nice selection of locally grown and very fresh right-off-the-vine fruits and vegetables, and everything from soup to nuts, literally!

I couldn't resist buying a couple of loves bread from one of the best bakeries in Fort Smith You have got to try the sourdough bread it is so good, and my wife enjoyed the cranberry pecan bread from the Harvest Moon Bakery.

Yes, there are also milk and eggs but they are Local, hand-gathered, and free-range eggs.

And if you don't feel like cooking they have prepared meals ready to go.

Meats, Yes Chicken, Pork, Beef They even have beef brisket jerky from a local Fort Smith family-owned company.

I've been in the store a couple of times and just did the free home delivery. Because of Framers Market Direct, my girls, who have food allergies, had chicken nuggets for the first time. I also love their local honey. My daughter proclaimed the blueberry rhubarb jam to be so good it made her want to fall out of her chair. The home delivery was so great. I scored some lions mane mushrooms that I NEVER thought would be possible to get in Fort Smith! They also have locally roasted coffee, apples, grapes, eggs, pork, and the usual produce (tomatoes, okra, peppers). Oh and BREAD- I also got a loaf of cranberry pecan.
