Mercy Fitness Center - Fort Smith — Local services in Fort Smith

I chose Mercy because of the pool and “kid zone” (childcare). The positives —lots of different people of all ages and fitness levels. To me, that is a positive because I don’t feel as intimidated. —the women’s workout area. —nice variety of classes —friendly staff, kid zone workers are awesome Areas for improvement: —They have a ton of kickboards, but what about pull buoys and hand paddles for lap swimmers? —Equipment/machines are kind of cramped. Seems like every square foot is being used to house something. Couldn’t some of the classrooms be multipurposed when not in use? Like having mats for stretching? —some of the weight machines have little guides on how to use them with muscles worked. I would love to see these on all the machines. Wow, unimpressed. Planet Fitness disrespected me hard and I was eager to change gyms. But after touring mercy's gym I was shocked at how far into disrepair it had fallen. Equipment was either falling apart or just plain dirty. The showers had a mildew smell noticable the moment i walked into locker room. Possibly if a trial day was offered I'd have comeback in a week in hopes I was just there on an off day. But with the price of a trial day I could pay for over a month at PF and despite being insulted by staff at PF atleast it is clean and equipment is in good repair. Amazing gym, great quality equipment, layout is decent, although, a male worker with a red ponytail and a gelatin body has a staring problem.. He continuously glared and mean-mugged me and my two friends as we were trying to workout peacefully. We are always respectful, yes sir/ma'am, please and thank you to anyone and everyone but he carries a high tension type of aura whenever he walks past us or anyone of a young demographic. He's not an intimidating person, but definitely carries an air of arrogance. Other than that, amazing gym, super clean bathrooms...
