I would always drive by and wonder, so one night I went to go pick up my pizza order from next door. I was early so I thought I would browse around, and OMG! They have one of the best deli counter around. Fancy? No you don't have to be fancy to put out amazing product. I'm pretty sure that most of what they carry in homemade. What they are known for are their little breakfast sandwiches. They goetta sausage, bacon with egg and cheese. They also have double goetta, sausage or just and egg and cheese. They run from $2.19-$1.59. along with that they also have biscuits and sausage gravy and the best hash browns.. They have a variety of of premade sandwiches, three sizes of salad and one salads has bacon and egg, I haven't even got to the appetizers. They have salami rolls homemade cheese balls they do wings they have amazing ham salads three versions of chicken salad and all this is made right behind this little area behind the deli counter. The women that work there are amazing busy busy I've never seen them stand around if they're standing there at the register. What makes Southside so unique is that they only have two electric frying pans and a little bitty oven all the biscuits are made fresh everyday for the sandwiches. How they do it just amazes me you know you're getting fresh sandwiches and food everyday. They also offer meat and cheese tray and I think sandwich trays. At Super bowl and the playoffs they had football shaped cheeses ball. To cute! I appreciate the ladies and all they do. I can't forget my weakness for a doughnut here and there. There's a small little case there that holds a variety of donuts. You have regular donuts you have plain long johns you have custard filled jelly-filled some with sprinkles and a cinnamon type of almond little Danish stay away from them just stay away there you're downfall I stick with my little custard ones and a little long john they are the best donuts. They come from The Cookie Jar on Monmouth Street in Newport. The owner starts I'm not exaggerating I think about 1:00 in the morning to start making all of his pastries, cookies, etc. He has the most amazing little store, so cute and old fashioned style. The kind when you walk in the smell hits triggers a memory. You have to visit the Cookie Jar Bakery, it will be on the right side of Monmouth Street. Please frequent local mom and pop stores. They were hit during the covid and we need to help bring them up and running again as before. Places like Southside and the The Cookie Jar. Thank you and have...

I bought potato salad, chicken salad with grapes and walnuts and pimento spread plus some sliced ham. Everything was delicious and so much better than what big grocery stores have. You can tell itâs homemade! I also purchased their lunch special of a loaded with everything cheeseburger which was so good and at the amazing price of $2.89. I will be a repeat customer from now on. I will be stopping in this Friday for their fish sandwich...
Read moreGreat for what it is! An old-fashioned deli/convience store. Little bit of everything in case you run out. Can even find dairy and frozen items in case you run out of cheese or eggs but not a ton of selection or variety because it's made for just that. If you run out. It is right across the street from our home so it is SUPER convenient and even has warm breakfast biscuits and croissants on the weekends in addition to a deli counter with sandwiches and deli meat! We often get egg salad or pasta salad there. Very nostalgic from growing up in the...
