Habegger Furniture — Local services in Fort Wayne

If you’re looking for customer service, this definitely is NOT the place to go!! … We were tired of buying furniture every 3 years, so we broke out the savings and purchased SMITH BROTHER furniture from Habegger Furniture in fort Wayne, Indiana. After spending $6,000.00 on a sofa and 2 chairs, you would think they would want return customers, and great reviews?! I’m not usually one that would give a negative review, but in this case the truth needs to be said. … We ordered our furniture in March 2017, received it in May 2017, within a year the back cushions were breaking down and looking really shabby. I called Habegger and they sent someone out to add polyfill to the already existing broken down cushions, a 1’’ sheet, needless to say it did little to nothing about the situation, the cushions looked as bad as ever. I just continued to pound and fluff them to make them look somewhat ok, ( but not really)! So, in December 2018, the process was getting pretty tiring, and we decided to go into the store and purchase new foam cushions, in hope of solving this problem, we were told it would take 2 weeks to get them!! Two weeks passed, and nothing, we called, and OOP’s they forgot to order them, we were assured they would be in on the next shipment in 2 more weeks! Two weeks went by and nothing, we called and again I’m sorry the PO was missed, it’ll be 2 more weeks! By now it’s getting a bit redundant! The kicker is, you guessed it, not in in 2 weeks, now they’re saying that SMITH BROTHERS lost the PO! So, now I’m really livid, I called SMITH BROTHERS and was directed to a voicemail for their customer service department, to which I left a detailed message, and heard NOTHING back from them! A week later we received a call that our cushions were in, we set up a delivery time and date giving them a 2 hour window to arrive, between 1-3pm. They didn’t even get that right, they showed up at 11:30am, this would have been fine except in order to accommodate them for a 1-3pm delivery we rearranged our schedule and cancelled an appointment to do so, had they told us 11:30am to begin with this would have been not a problem!! Moral of the story is, don’t expect customer service after you purchase $6000.00 worth of furniture, because you’re more than likely NOT GOING TO GET IT!! ... PS: Read their reply, they say they found the breakdown in communication?? Then blow me off again, saying if I need anything to call, really?! We did call MANY TIMES and the problem was dismissed and tossed to the way-side ... ** BTW ... we did have to pay for those cushions, after all this I believe they should have comped them, had the originals not broken down in less than a year none of this would have happened!! ... Keep watching...

Fast forward…about a year and my call to them about the fabric on the sofa pilling. A few weeks later they came out and ran a lint remover over the couch. Stating that would take care of it and should be good.

Fast forward another year. Couch still pilling and looks cheap and dirty. After several phone calls to get a resolution I was told that if I got reupholstered would lose my life time warranty on the couch.

Also I was questioned repeatedly about how I used the couch. I use it just like the other 2 Smith Brother couches (which are older) and 3 chairs that have no issues. They do have different fabric but when you buy “cashmere” you don’t expect pilling. Frustrating to have to debate this when it became quite clear they were looking to avoid responsibility. I understand that the warranty is 1 year on fabric but was not given any solution other than they would send someone out to take a look. That’s been months and still haven’t seen them.

Now my only solution to this expensive couch is to cover it with a $50 polyester couch cover, which I’m sure they will tell me voids the warranty.

The true character of a person or place of business is how they handle problems, and not when things are new and they are making money. I have lost faith in the character of the management and customer service of this business.

This is a great place for quality furniture. The furniture is great but the people that work there are even better. I needed help with designing and furnishing a living room. Trina has a great eye for style and is very knowledgeable on what takes something from ordinary to extraordinary! My room looks brand new and has style and sophistication. Something I would not have figured out on my own. Harold and others that work there are equally as talented. If you need new furniture this is a great place. Even better if you need help in designing a space to really change the look of a room. - Thanks Harbegger...

We had been on the hunt for some new living room furniture for a while and were getting pretty discouraged by the selection and quality offered by the other furniture places in town. While on our way to a yet another store we decided to stop by Habegger Furniture "just to look"; assuming that we would find a similar disappointing selection as to that offered by the other places we had visited.

We were wrong!

After a brief stroll through the aisles we finally found a selection that we thought would work well in our home and offered the kind of comfort we have been sorely missing from our current furniture. We had the pleasure of working with Trina, who helped us with every step of selection and purchasing process, and is someone we look forward to working with again should we make more purchases in the future.

All in all, a top notch experience so far. We are looking forward to our delivery! (and I will updated the review at that time).

Furniture arrived and it is awesome! The delivery guys were top notch, super friendly, and moved everything in (and took some old stuff out) without a hitch. Everything looks even better than we expected in our room -...
