Loved the food. My husband and I went. We shared a number 4 boil. Substituted the crawfish for scallops and had extra to take home. We also ordered the seafood bread as an app. People rave about the bread. I liked it but will probably order something different next time. But our boil was beyond amazing. We felt like we ate so much and yet we kept finding more seafood. I can't remember what seasoning we had. I just know it wasn't the garlic one because everyone on here said not to get that one. I know it was the first one listed on the menu. (Not sure if that helps) Everyone who complained about the service was correct. Our waiter seemed annoyed that he had customers. Kinda like he it was our honor for him to be bothered to serve us. It was our first time there and asked him to explain and got very little info. The next table over had an amazing waitress who explained things in great detail. I wish we would have heard what she told them prior to our order because we would have ordered completely different. After our first hand encounter and reading all the prior comments- the food is wonderful and worth the money. The seafood is fresh and done well. However the wait staff needs to be trained in customer service and consistency. Just a good attitude and a smile goes a long way in customer service (even if everything else is terrible) If a manager is reading this. Please take a look at your customer service. It is going to be your downfall even if the food is as...
Read moreExcellent food, horrible service.
The shrimp were fresh and had a nice firm texture. The Old Bay Butter was great. My heat level was mild. The gumbo was very good. The roux was different but good. It featured all of the usual ingredients - sausage, chicken, okra and shrimp - plus mussels. The red potatoes and corn were good too.
Storming Crab is similar to the other crab boil restaurants that are popping up all over the country. Places like Juicy crab, Boiling Crab, Juicy Crawfish, etc operate in a like manner. You order your crabs or lobsters or shrimp and they bring it to you in a plastic bag, juice, corn and potatoes are included in the bag. The diffence here is that they squeeze your selection out of the bag into a tin pan for you. Things can get messy but the food I s so good.
The weak link in this chain was the service. My waiter felt the urge to lean on the table with both hands while he was talking to me. I had to ask him not to lean on the table. I asked for a straw and he threw it on the table. He did not offer me a bib or gloves. He laid the check down after my to go part came. He came back while I was still eating and asked if I was ready to pay. I sent him away. His service level was in the basement. I tipped him less than ten percent. I usually tip twenty percent or more. You will know him when you see him. He has facial hair and glasses. This guy brought the whole experience down.
If you get a better waiter/waitress you will have a great...
Read moreWe visited Storming Crab tonight. Our closest one of these types of restaurants is in Fort Wayne and we are from Syracuse so we do not come here very often.
Tonight was my daughter's 10th birthday and she wanted crab so this was the place to go. We took advantage of one of the family specials for $156 that included Lobster, king crab and snow crab legs, shrimp, muscles, clams, and all the normal stuff like corn and potatoes.
We ordered an extra pound of crab and substituted the muscles and clams for more shrimp and crab. We had 7 of us (10, 13, 15 and 4 adults). The only thing we had left was some sausage and two corn. The total with drinks was $238. So not cheap but for the food quality it was just fine.
Pros: No wait Good free seafood bread (probably a million calories each slice) Good flavor we choose the Shrimp easy to peel Fun atmosphere Amazing sweet tea Friendly staff
Cons: Wish the food would come a bit quicker (probably not a lot of kitchen staff) Wish we had plates to eat off of or more metal tins we shared one big one and it was not fun to reach across the table over each other.
All in all it isn't my favorite one of these but well worth the visit (their bread is my favorite seafood bread out of other places...
