Jana was a great guide for us tonight. We got a private tour of the night sky and she struck a great balance in the information provided between me (that knew a moderate amount about astronomy) and my mother (who knew almost nothing on the topic).
The moon was full, but we still had plenty to see. Don't expect Hubble telescope level details. I appreciated the fact that there is so much that can be seen without a multi million dollar facility.
The most interesting parts for me were seeing a ruby red star and learning how to spot the Orion nebula within the Orion constellation with binoculars.Very cool!
I saw another comment about a tip jar. Sorry that I missed that - it was worth it for me and I should have left something.

Read moreVictor is phenomenal and the telescope itself is neat. However, I felt I grossly overpaid for what it was. This should be $10 per person maximum. It was just two of us and we paid the full ~125$. There was also a tip jar, if most of money doesn’t go to Vic then what did I even pay for? Instead of observatory it should be called Spencer’s telescope.
Once again. Victor is great, stayed longer than I wanted to so not to be rude to him… this is in no way a reflection on him. It is just...
Read moreThis is a great opportunity! A private session with a knowledgable astronomer, in our case with Jana, to learn about how stars are created, types of stars, and so much more. We saw Jupiter, star clusters, a closeup of the moon, and the cigar galaxy. She also outlined all the constellations that were visible, highlighting the stars in the outlines. We really enjoyed our star tour with Jana and I would highly recommend this as a...
