Would have rated this place six stars if possible. Had difficulty with furnace operating in our motorhome, lows in the 20's at night. The RV Park loaned us a space heater until we were able to use our furnace. Isolating the problem was difficult but the tech from Thousand Lakes Services refused to give up. He came to our site and completed repairs in a very caring and professional manner. We found him to be very easy and pleasant to work with, that was a bonus. This furnace has given us problems off and on for a few years and we have taken it to two other repair shops to fix the problem. In both cases the "Fix" was short lived and we twice had the problem return. In this case, the problem was fixed but the tech felt that it would not last, some things just were not as they should be. Even though the furnace was working, he felt it was not quite right. He tried to isolate the root of the longstanding problem so it would not resurface later. He was able to do so and corrected what was causing the intermittent problem. He was very fair in how he charged us for the amount of time he put in. The RV park night next door to his shop was also a pleasure. It is a very nice park with really nice people running it. We consider ourselves lucky to have found both....
Read moreI was visiting Capitol Reef NP when the brakes of my '07 Prius started chirping. I had been told by a Toyota service rep that my brakes would need to be replaced soon so I assumed the chirping meant the brake pads wouldn't survive my trip. I called Biggie at Thousand Lakes Services and he ordered parts for me and scheduled time with me the next day.
When I got to Thousand Lakes Services, Biggie checked out my brakes and told me a rock was causing the chirping and that my pads still had 25% left on them. He returned the parts he had ordered and sent me on my way free of charge!
This was a situation where many shops would've charged me for the inspection or replaced the brake pads even though they weren't worn out. I have no reason to doubt Biggie does great work, he's honest and knowledgeable so if you're ever in Torrey, UT and need a mechanic you should call Thousand Lakes. I'm sure Biggie will take good...
Read moreWhile parked for an overnight stay at the 1000 Lakes RV Park in Torrey, UT, we were unable to start our class A motorhome. The park manager's brother operates an adjacent auto repair facility and correctly diagnosed the problem as a bad starter motor. He was able to order the replacement delivered from Salt Lake City and had us back on the road the following day at noon. He was timely in his response, knowledgeable about motorhomes and provided fair pricing. This was an unexpected but welcome level of service in such a remote area [near Capitol Reef NP].. The fact that he could make the repairs while the vehicle was parked at the RV park was a...
