. First of all when I first moved in I wanted the three-bedroom because it was the cheapest and they said they had a three-bedroom available so the day before I moved in is when they give you your roommates information so you can contact them and talk to them and let them know you're going to be moving in and what not so they gave me the two girls information and I was texting them back and forth telling them how I was moving in and all that the next day well a few hours later they tell me for maintenance issues that 3 bedroom is not available anymore a day before I was supposed to move in and that I had to move into a 2br. So the day I went to pick up the keys and I had all my family helping me move my stuff and they gave us the keys to an apartment on the third floor which was supposed to be this two bedroom apartment not the three bedroom apartment. so we move all my stuff into this apartment on the third floor in the middle of winter snowoing and cold. As I moved my stuff in there was nobody home at the time the other roommate did not appear to be there and as I'm looking and walking around the apartment after I had moved everything in and all my movers left for the day and it was just me there putting all my stuff away with my mother I was like Mom why is there a third bedroom door here they told me that I was moving into a two-bedroom because the three bedroom was no longer available so after hours of moving in we call the office and we said I think we're in the wrong apartment you gave us the keys to the wrong apartment and they said oh oh my gosh my mistake we did give you the wrong keys so literally I moved my stuff into an apartment that was not even the apartment I was supposed to be moving into! All the people that help me move in had already been gone for the day I had already pretty much got all my stuff moved in and put away in the bedroom just to find out that we were in the wrong apartment and had to immediately get out of there. But it was so late in the day we had to leave my stuff in this apartment and I had to go spend the night at my mom's and we had to get the people to come help us move the stuff the next day from the third floor to a whole nother building on the 3rd floor again!! As I'm settling into the new apartment things got very bad with the roommate she was not welcoming at all she did not want a roommate apparently she claims that the office didn't even tell her that I was moving in soshe made the next few weeks of my life a living hell she brought her mother there for 2 1/2 weeks made me very uncomfortable they were questioning me about my personal life and background checking me asking me constant questions. The tension was growing between us and I had left the office numerous emails and messages about her and how she was treating me they did nothing about it until finally the girl got into my face one day almost put her hands on me the police came and she was threatening to beat me up and followed me into my room screaming pointing her fingers in my face about to put her hands on me!!!II called the police and they said there was nothing they could do that this was a issue the office had to resolve so I locked myself in the room for the rest of the night. the next morning I went straight to the office and told them what happened and they said okay well we can move you to a different unit I said you're going to move me I said she is the one who made my life hell and almost put her hands on me but I have to move so I ended up moving to the second floor with a male he was a cool roommate but that's not the point this is now the third time I had to move since I moved in in February!! Now they're trying to tell me that I didn't sign my lease in time to stay and they're telling me I have to be out July 31st and then move out for 2 weeks and then come back so they want me to move a 4th and 5th time! That's not happening they better do something about this because I'm not moving a fourth time this...
Read moreI have never had such a negative experience before. To start: when I went to move in, I was taking over someone else’s lease. This was a nightmare. Staff would be constantly misinforming me and not telling me everything, so I had to keep coming back again and again to find out what I had to do next because they wouldn’t tell me everything. Finally, I got everything turned in and I was told I had to pay them $990 in order to get my keys. I was able to talk them into waiving the security deposit and application fee, which brought it down to $690.
I moved in and there was hair everywhere, it was dirty, and the walls had tons of holes in them. I contacted the leasing office and they told me that I took over the last person’s lease and I got the apartment “as is,” so they didn’t clean it or even inspect it at all before turning it over to me. Most decent apartment complexes in Kent (especially the ones at this price point) will take a week or two to clean and flip the unit before you move in. I have the unit “as is,” but it’s got tons of holes in the walls that I didn’t put there, so I put in a work order for it…maintenance tells me that they don’t fill nail holes in walls for lease takeovers…okay so now I’m getting charged for these. Even better, the leasing office never gave me a room condition form to fill out! So any damages that the previous tenant put in the unit are now coming out of my pocket!
After I’d been living there for 3 months, I leave for class and I can’t find my car…it’s been towed. I contact the leasing office and they inform me of the towing company’s phone number. I was never informed of the parking rules when I moved in or any time after that. I emailed the office and they told me it was my fault for not asking about something I was never told about. After an admittedly pretty frustrated email to the general manager, I managed to talk them into covering my tow fee.
My apartment’s dishwasher has had 4 work orders put in for it and it still does not work. Our dryer has had broken parts on it since I moved in and they refuse to fix it. Maintenance is rude, the managers in the office are unhelpful and uninformative.
I emailed the office in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic recently and asked them if they were giving any assistance to students who had lost their jobs or needed to move home. The short answer is that they’re doing nothing to help. They’re not offering to waive relet fees (it’s $200 to have someone takeover your lease) and they’re not offering any assistance with finding someone to takeover a lease other than saying, “Try Facebook!” This kind of predatory behavior is ridiculous! Most of Campus Pointe’s competitors (like University Edge) are waiving takeover fees altogether and also have offered some assistance with finding people that are interested in moving in to takeover a lease for the summer. When I think back to how difficult of a time I had trying to takeover someone’s lease, I wouldn’t be surprised if the managers are instructing the student employees to make the takeover process as difficult as possible! Horrible customer service.
I wish I could rate this apartment lower than 1 star because they don’t even deserve that. All they care about is money. You can tell that from their online rent payments. If you pay with a credit or debit card, it costs you an extra $15!!! They call it a “servicing fee” but really it’s just more predatory behavior from a company trying to extort you out of every dollar they can. I’d rather live with the cockroaches at College Towers than live her ever again. There’s a reason University Edge is outperforming Campus Pointe...
Read moreSo far I am loving this place. The staff is absolutely wonderful. The maintenance staff is also excellent. They are all very friendly, professional, and helpful. I am currently renting a 4x4 standard apartment and my rent is $670/month + $50/month for electric. That's a grand total of $720 a month for my own bed and bathroom. Personally, I think it is worth it. The location of the apartment complex is wonderful. It is very close to campus and near many restaurants. My apartment is very spacious as well. The common area (kitchen and living room) is surprising large. The bathroom in my room are enormous and is somewhat unnecessary. The room itself is quite cramped. It is OK if it's just you in your room but if you have another person in your room, it gets annoying constantly maneuvering around one another. The bathrooms should have been made smaller and the rooms should have been made bigger. The internet is also decent. It gets spotty at times which can be quite frustrating. I contacted the internet service provider, Pavlov Media, a few times when I had internet issues but they were no help. The problem eventually went away on its own. My biggest complaint about Campus Pointe was the condition of my apartment upon move in. It was horrendously dirty. Dust piled up in every air vent, spider webs in the corners, food crumbs from previous residents under the stove and fridge, stains in and around my toilet, grime buildup in the shower, dust and junk underneath the sink and in the drawers, dirty where the hot water tank is, and EXTREMELY filthy carpets in my room. The picture I have attached to this review is from August 18th, the day I moved in. The vacuum was also brand new, fresh out of the box. The cleaning people Campus Pointe had hired we asked to come back to my apartment three separate times clean more or re-clean things. Campus Pointe was very nice about the situation and even offered to hire different cleaning people to clean our entire apartment. All in all, Campus Pointe is an excellent place to live and I highly recommend it to any and all current or future Kent State students! A flat rate of $50 for electric and all other utilities included, furnished apartments, personal bed and bathrooms, internet, cable, in-unit washer and dryers, great workout room, a pool, and absolutely wonderful staff is unbeatable! (FYI: I do not work for Campus Pointe. I am only...
