The first time I tried Tokos and ended up with a awful stomach ache that led to the hospital. Which I didn't blame Toko for because it turned out I had appendicitis. But today me and my two buddies took out some Toko and ate it back at my apartment. We got 3 chicken hibachis and one crab rangoon. Well a half hour later my buddy comes charging into my room to tell me my one friend was violently throwing up and there was traces of blood. What followed was me and him having diarrhea and him going to the ER. All three of us got ill after eating Tokos food, one throwing up, two of us having diarrhea and all three of us having stomach pains. We called and demanded the manager only to be put on hold and for the same lady to come back and talk to us again. We demanded a refund, she tried her hardest to convince us that they serve only the healthiest food. Yeah right, two times i've gotten food here, two times we have gone to the ER hours after. I demanded my refund, and the lady tried her heart out to persuade us that our illness was unrelated. And she even caught a attitude at the end of the phone call. We did get our refund after a lengthy conversation with the "manager", but that women could not have hung up the phone any faster. She clearly didn't care about the situation and was obviously annoyed about the call. Altogether me and my buddies will never be returning to Toko again. Overall the experience was pathetic, the staff is lackluster and doesn't care, and the food is not worth the price. However I will credit them where credit is due. I do like the look of...
Read moreMy husband and I went here for our 48th wedding anniversary on July 22nd. We had been wanting to try it. We were seated quickly and had drinks minutes after being seated. The menu is huge. If you love sushi they have hundreds of choices. Lots of dishes to choose from. Even if your picky like me you will find something to eat. My husband ordered a New York Strip steak with lobster hibachi style. I order the steak with shrimp. It comes with clear broth soup with onions mushrooms. Next was a small salad with ginger dressing. My dinner had lots of shrimp and even though I ordered my steak well done, it was tender. Lots of steak in bite sized pieces. Also zucchini sliced and mushrooms and onions with fried rice. It was delicious and filling. My husband loved his meal also. My dinner was around 22.00 and my husband's was 33.50. We were happy with the great service and beautiful atmosphere of this place. We will definitely return and recommend this restaurant. The only thing that could be better was the fried rice only had scrambled eggs in it. Throw some peas and carrots in it and I will be a...
Read moreWent for lunch today, had the AYCE lunch special. Sushi was mediocre at best, fish quality was so so, avocados were over ripe and brown on the displayed edges. One person in my party is allergic to mushrooms - the server was told 3 times, yet she still brought him soup garnished with mushrooms and then brought him steak hibachi with only mushrooms and steak. When it was sent back, the chefs could be heard audibly laughing through the restaurant at the server's instructions. They did not prepare the remake properly - it came with only steak and no other vegetables and proceeded to give him an allergic reaction because they did not use a clean cooking surface. He is fine, but Toko showed a blatant disregard for food safety.
Given the price per head was over $20 with tip, even though it was All You Can Eat, I would not waste my money returning there. Given that this is in a college town (Kent State), I'm betting a lot of the people giving this place raving reviews don't have any idea what good...
