This morning I was approached aggressively by a security guard who was watching me as I ate my breakfast and then followed me when I parked on the other side of the campus. I'm getting my Master's online currently at ASU and I just started Door Dashing to help pay off student loans. I thought it was a public lot to my knowledge as I see people walking through campus all the time on foot and parking there. I got started early for breakfast deliveries today. The man passed by my car slowed down staring at me suspiciously like "I see you" and I waived like "I see you too and what you're doing", I had my doors open to move my Whole Foods grocery bags around from the back so I could access my snacks and granola bars during delivery days. Once I told him that he quickly left, but what was concerning was what happened before that when he saw me take a photo of his car to document the situation, he turned around quickly and aggressively approached my vehicle Tbone style cornering me in. I rolled my window down and said "can I help you? Is there a problem? You approached me suspiciously and that scared me" he said he was security so that's his job? I said yes but what is your concern? I'm parked here minding my own business, I live 10 minutes away and often walk at Liberty Park and park there, if we're not allowed to park there I told him to let me know. He seemed speechless after that. I told him my mom worked in law enforcement for 10 years and I take the law seriously. I said I don't see a reason for you approaching me and he said "well you had all your doors open" I said yeah? What's suspicious about that? I was moving my Whole Foods grocery bags from the back to get my snacks for the day. This was unnecessary and uncalled for to be approached so aggressively by a male security guard to a younger woman who was clearly minding her own business and getting her day started. I can respect if the parking lot is not open to public, just let me know that, don't sit there trying to dominate the situation and bother a young woman doing nothing wrong because your job title is security. There are boundaries and laws about targeting individuals and harassing them for no reason at all. All individuals should be treated with respect and dignity and kindness. Targeting people for no valid reason or valid concern is not ok. I arrived there at 6:45am with my Sonic breakfast and sorted my snacks for my work day, and also checked my emails. If I'm ever approached like this again and bothered again then I will escalate it to the...
Read moreI will start by saying I attended Columbia State a few years ago, and went on to graduate from MTSU and am now in a master's program. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with the classes I took at Columbia State. However, it may be prudent to avoid the bookstore. I had a less than desirable experience with them. Upon returning my rental book at the end of the semester, the employee checking me out scoured through the entire book page by page, as if searching for some sign of a flaw. (I considered this ridiculous behavior, considering most universities even let students write in rental books now). When she got to the very end of the book, she noticed that one of the pages had a single drop of water on it. (I had just come inside from the pouring rain underneath an umbrella). She tried to charge me full price for the book, claiming I had damaged it, when the book was virtually pristine. When I resisted, the employee working the register next to her walked over, looked at the book, and confirmed that there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. Seemingly agitated at being embarrassed in front of the other customers, the employee returned the book no charge, but was incredibly rude to me for the remainder of the transaction. Based on this interaction, my perception is that this employee attempts to scam students into paying full price for rentals on a regular basis, hoping that inexperienced young adults will be intimidated and ultimately pay up. Hopefully I am wrong and she was just in a nasty mood that day. By all means, pursue an education here, but consider renting with...
Read moreif I could give this review one star I would. Let me just start off by saying, I have been going to this school a while and have had many friends and family members who have gone to this school. If you’re thinking about going here just don’t…seriously! not only is the staff extremely rude to you and acts like they are forced to work there and their lives are miserable, but the financial aid department is an extreme mess. Professors are snarky stuck up and act as if they do not want you to succeed at all; which can be terribly frightening to a freshman straight out of high school attending here. The school only caters to people who are straight at high school and have unlimited Time and no job, and there are no night classes available. If you were trying to attend the school to make it work with a work schedule look somewhere else. they will literally tell you straight to your face you can’t have a job and go here because their classes are extremely tricky to schedule. The professors talk down to you and consistently belittle students acting as if they should know everything before attending a class; I’ve had to drop many classes due to poor teaching. College can be a scary place for students and a welcoming face and nice professors would definitely make an improvement but it looks like from the reviews they continue to decline. Just stay away from...
