Oakridge Supermarket — Local services in Fraser

I just quit here as a cashier on Christmas eve. Have worked here for a year and a half. Here's what I'll say:

Pros: Easiest job I ever had, most of my coworkers became my best friends, many regular customers, convenient to pick up food while I worked there.

Cons: Registers are so outdated even with updates that I would have to restart my computer in front of customers daily. Unacceptable, unprofessional. Management had no structure, and seniority never mattered for baggers, cashiers, and stock. Rules were not consistent, and were enforced one day and not the next, giving me the impression that rules don't matter to anyone there. Zero security both in the physical location of the store, and with problematic customers. This place could be robbed easily. Poor marketing and misleading signs made customers constantly ask me for the prices of products because nothing was correctly labeled. If I didn't know, I'd have to ask every person in the store for an answer- so ridiculous. This place lacks major organization. Disgusting, filthy environment for workers and customers alike. The ceiling is covered in mold and dust, and I developed an allergy and sneezed often. This is nasty for fresh food like produce to stay in! And in the winter, the air is so cold because they lack heat in the store that we have to wear our winter coats; my hands have gotten so dry/cold even with lotion that it cracked my finger tips and is starting to leave scars that hurt. Oak Ridge ///// There is yet a third update at the bottom of this page. //// This is an second update, sadly I’m removing a couple stars. Shortly after my 5 star review there was a change in management. The 2 fellows that took over were bickering with each other most of the time I was there. They weren’t real loud but not quiet either. I went there a couple weeks later. They seemed to not have enough people working and the shelves and floors reflected it. I haven’t been back since. Sorry everyone, I should have updated this sooner.

\\\\\ Below is the original five star review \\\ I started going to this store after I got tired of walking miles through the big superstores with their surprisingly dwindling variety of brand name items vs their store brand. Oak Ridge has an amazing selection for the size of their store. The prices are competitive. The store is not new and shiny like the big super chain stores, but it is clean, the shelves are restocked throughout the day and the employees are very helpful. If I could give less than one star I would definitely give -10. This place really needs to give all of their employees a class on customer service. Every time I visit this store I am treated rudely and like I am inconveniencing them by making them do their job. Every employee with the exception of a few has been rude to me at one point or another. My last visit I had bought a couple 2 liter bottles of mountain dew and when I grabbed my bags to leave one of the bags broke. And instead of helping the girl that bags my items laughed and said that's why I'm not a bagger I'm a cashier. Now I don't know any place that this is acceptable but I did not appreciate it. I don't believe I will be returning to this location or any of the locations if this is how employees are allowed to treat customers. Also since the virus has started I have noticed quite a few of the cashiers wearing their mask only over their mouth and not their nose or having the mass down below their chin while ringing people up. I understand that it's uncomfortable but it is a requirement by law. I really believe that oak ridge really needs to review their employees and take a look at how they're treating their customers or they will not be open long because people will not continue to shop there if...
