I've left bad & good reviews on this location, twice in past, updated low review due to poor service the 1st time.. but now today, although it's above average food [& prices], I went outta my way to say I know it wasn't the employee's fault, that corporate apparently changed such a trivial thing as not being able to switch to sweet potato fries with combo, any longer [even if you pay extra].. and we ordered side of them after.. but after we paid, we were told they ran out, and then my mom asked to just give me the refund [$5.99 + tax], and they said OK, so she could check on š in car.. but then lady says she needs her card again cuz they can't give cash, but then when I asked how much it was [cuz was about to just tip it to her for grilling her earlier], she said they can give gift card for the $6.35, so seemed weird, & too much to tip for $30 take out [plus tip already given].. so I just called her back in to give card again, but didn't say anything about the lady not telling us this when she agreed to give cash refund before my mom left the lobby.. but then she was shorted the tax, & mentioned that it should be included -- and the lady sighed about her own mistake.. but since the grown adult had issue with calculator app when pulled out š± to calculate $.06 [sales tax] multiplied by the $5.99 [refund], cuz she couldn't figure out 6x6=36 cents, plus 5.99= $6.35 total -- so she paused to bag our food, but I asked for ketchup cuz they were out in lobby [while she was right at box of it, still bagging food.. but as if I'm being done some favor, for her to simply reach under counter, right where she stood, & not have to move at all to grab it and throw in bag [only due to not keeping lobby supplied in 1st place].. so she had to say "I think they put a couple in box, but I'll give you few extra", just to show her bad attitude, in case we missed it before.. but I still didn't say "well, I guess I could have made you go outta your way, to fill up the empty lobby area, and then got them myself", like I was thinking š¤.. but then she had some slick response to my mom justifying the tax that she was struggling with, and that'd just be easier to give it in cash.. but she tried blaming this on corporate rules again, she was just following.. and I don't allow anyone to be rude to my mother a 2nd time, and verbally now.. so I cut her off, and offered her the answer to 6x6, and then the total of $6.35 -- b4 saying if she's doing everything by the rules, then you have to go by rules to add tax to refund.. which she agreed to give to me, when my mom asked & then went out to car, but then was required to return to give card again, but then she noticed tax missing after told to put card in pos slot -- but employee now has attitude with her mistake, but then had another issue over reaching out her hand for ketchup, & just cuz we didn't stoop down to her petty level, she thought she could say more 3rd time, to not be mistaken for her disdain to us.. so sorry not sorry, I would take a moment to tell her that I had understood all the disrespect that she showed, & not gonna be interrupted while I ran back each 1 we let slide -- but it's now past the point of no return [besides the $6.35], but regardless of how I've given you the answer, but you are genuinely oblivious that it's now been 5 minutes since our food was ready, but you still haven't processed the refund yet.. that took several minutes to be told to come back in after she told her she could give me refund.. but you're most definitely not gonna get a word in now that you garnered the response to your poor service.. and since she still tried saying something after I was done -- I made sure she knew that was no longer afforded to her, and she had no reason to keep saying anything in response of just simply being expected of doing your job, & not have to keep saying a single word, that's the whole reason you got here in 1st place.. but had to get more rude to make clear she should just say nothing at that point.. don't care to name her, but lost regular...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJust finished eating here for the first time.
Went ahead and did the #8 box. Two double sliders (extra meat extra cheese) with lettuce caramelized onions, their special sauce and tomato.
The sliders were fantastic, they were a tad bit bigger than most sliders I've ever had (primarily because of the double meat), but they were juicy, well flavored and their sauce which is a tiny bit spicy actually blended very well with everything.
If the only thing I'd had at this restaurant were the sliders, this review would be 5/5.
The fries were cooked right, had a good balance of crispness and texture. Not too hard, not too soft. The main issue with them was the flavor, it had just a light amount of salt on them and tasted just very bland.
On one of the wrappers the sliders came in it actually said "savvy sliders and seasoned fries" so I actually still am a bit confused because I asked one of the employees of they had any salt pepper or fry seasoning, and he brought me some salt & pepper individual packets.
The extra salt and pepper helped quite a bit and I ended up eating about half of them but ultimately they really just needed some more seasoning.
Last thing I had was the banana pudding. Let me forethought this with I absolutely love banana pudding. I am the banana pudding man for thanksgiving. Banana pudding is such a rare menu item at most places that if its there I almost always try it.
Their banana pudding was awful. It looked normal enough had some crushed cookies, and actual bananas in it, so I was expecting something really pleasant but the base pudding mix they used was some classic offbrand, and they did nothing to bolster the recipe. They didn't add any whipping cream, or condensed milk, or anything that fluffies it up, and while the diced bananas and crumbled cookies helped, it didnt fit the bill. The portion size was good for a price of about 3.50 but I'd much rather have had less banana pudding that was good, than more that is bad.
Banana pudding 2/5, I didn't factor this into the overall score simply because it doesn't feel fair to judge a sliders place based on banana pudding but I strongly advise Savvy Sliders to ditch the banana pudding or kick it up a notch.
Cleanliness - 5/5
Service - 5/5
Overall I enjoyed the experience, they have a nice little bar area that is actually very modern and interesting, and their layout is actually fairly spacious for how small the store is. I would recommend this place to others, mainly the...
Ā Ā Ā Read more(Cliff's notes version: Not worth the $$ for the quality and taste that would be expected for this cost) My wife and I were excited to try this place for our first time. I hopped on Google to read a bit about other peoples reviews and there were enough pleasant experiences to give it a try. I decided to order online and it was easy enough to use, but what they fail to disclose is that your credit card gets a charge from Happy's Pizza, not Savvy Sliders. This initially was quite off putting and had it been my wife ordering, the charge would have been labeled as fraud just simply not knowing. My guess was that the owner also owned a Happys Pizza, and for some reason was using that system for charges (Which I later found out was true). I went to pick up my food and the place was clean and the staff friendly. As I drove home the smell of the onion rings (instead of fries) filled my car and I was getting more excited. Once at home and finally able to dig in!! Unfortunately this is where it turned south. The food was... well... just... meh. The Chicken slider I had been hoping to be the best (due to the reviews) was the most disappointing. The chicken slider was tough and rubbery. It's hard to describe the texture, but occasionally I would encounter chicken that had that same weird texture from cheaper Chinese restaurants (maybe that's what they call rib meat?). It's almost like a tough to chew tofu if that makes any sense. My wife got the Savvy classic which was okay. I took a bite from it and I felt roughly the same, neither good nor bad. I got the box #7 with the Spicy Falafel and the Mediterranean Kabob sliders. The Mediterranean Kabob was mistaken for a regular overcooked burger at first until I tasted the wee bit of garlic sauce, then I knew what I had in my hands. The Spicy Falafel I will say definitely had the spice going for it, but that's about it. The Falafel patty itself was a very deep brown and on the verge of being burnt, but still managed to be quite flavorless. Overall when my wife and I discussed if it was good enough to go back to, we reached the conclusion (Stop reading now if you have a weak stomach) that (I REALLY don't want to say this next part) we would rather have White Castles over...
