During my recent visit to Best Kept Secrets Barbershop in Frederick, Maryland, I encountered several issues that significantly impacted my experience. Upon entering, I noticed a lack of cleanliness, with hair clippings not adequately cleaned up around the shop. Additionally, the atmosphere was somewhat chaotic, with four televisions playing music at varying volumes, which I found distracting.

I had initially scheduled an appointment for 6:00 PM but received a call to come in at 6:30 PM instead. I arrived 15 minutes early, hoping to be attended to promptly. Unfortunately, my presence seemed to go unnoticed, and I ended up waiting until 6:55 PM without any acknowledgment from the staff. Lance was supposed to be my barber, but due to the lack of communication and attention, I ultimately decided to leave.

The surprising lack of cleanliness at the shop, especially with hair not being properly cleaned up, raises concerns about how the health department hasn’t taken any action. It’s essential for a personal care business to maintain high cleanliness standards for both customer satisfaction and health compliance.

Overall, while I understand that busy establishments can have off days, the lack of cleanliness and customer service at Best Kept Secrets Barbershop, particularly from my assigned barber Lance, did not meet my expectations. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this barbershop. Tammy is hand downs the best loctician I been to in the area, but is not a respector of time and very unprofessional. She is very nice and respectful when she actually shows for an appointment. My first appointment she relocated and did not notify me. I showed for the appointment, call several time, but received no response. She texted a few hours later asking if I could come in, I live 30 mins away so I rescheduled. Next appointment she did and awesome job. My son hair looked great, loved it. From then on I normally booked the first appointment on Saturday, around 11am. Only once did she show on time.This went on for about a year, like I said, she is good, and I was desperate. In December, I had three appointment and she was a no show for each. No call, did not answer the phone or respond to texts, nothing. The appointments weren't even on the same day. My kids left school early, I had to scramble to find someone to do their hair before Christmas. Such a waste of time. I would drive to Baltimore before ever coming back to this place. A first and last for me. VERY unprofessional! Tammy was 1 hour late showing up to an appointment booked and I confirmed with 3 texts prior in the week. To make things worst, another appointment came in halfway through my appointment. Instead of having the decency to give me my time Tammy decided to start on the other client. 15 minutes later she comes back to me. I chose not to say anything because I wanted her to be herself, especially if I was going to have regular appointments which was the plan before the appointment. After the appointment my hair looked rushed and not neat. I could have paid a highschooler with no experience and at least feel like I got what I paid for.
