Great Wall — Restaurant in Frederick

I moved here from the NYC area and have been going to the Great Wall for my Chinese food for almost 3 years now. I tried others. Great Wall was the best I could find. BUT something has definitely changed! The last few times have been very disappointing and yesterday was no better. I always place the same order... House Mei Fun, fried chicken wings and wonton soup. The wings were hard and not freshly cooked, they had no flavor and I think they needed to change the oil. My House Mei Fun and soup were also flavorless except for a ton of salt! I wasn't please with my food a month ago when I ordered. The Mei Fun was so salty that it made my head hurt to try to eat it. But yesterday I was willing to give them another chance. I thought maybe the regular cook had been out sick or something but after yesterday I have GOT to search for another Chinese restaurant in Frederick. Ever since Great Wall on Kingfisher Drive closed, we had hoped it was just a move, not a permanent closure. We know there was an ownership change along the way, and that's ok.

We tried this Great Wall, hoping it was the same people/ownership. We think it is based on the menu but the noticeable difference is the lack of spice. The original Great Wall's spicy menu items brought some heat; the same menu items ordered today seemed familiar but not spicy enough. We are not over the top "as much heat as possible "people, so to say it didn't have enough spice speaks volumes.

We think that increasing the heat on the spicy dishes would be a good change. The food is good; it can be great if the old recipes are...

I don’t have problems with the food, the food is pretty mediocre for a Chinese place in my opinion. The problem I have is more so with the staff. I’ve ordered on door dash plenty of times here, requested some condiments, they never fulfil my request neither do they even bother to put utensils. I’ve had that happen at least a couple occasions. Another time, I made an order through DD again just so they could cancel it 30 minutes later without giving me a reason. I’ve only gone there once in person and the people working there look so dry, lifeless, and don’t bother greeting nor saying bye. Never again Great Wall..mediocre food, trash employees....
