Dutchman's Market Inc. — Local services in Fredericksburg

I’m really grossed out. Heard about the sandwiches being really good here with top tier meat- I finally decided to give it a try. Some locals even said they buy their deli meat here rather than HEB. So I had pretty decent expectations of a freshly made sandwich. After getting sandwiches from here I have no idea how. It looks like worse quality meat and cheese than HEB… and when asked if I wanted it heated, I had the thought that they’d toast it the correct way. But I was horrified to see she pulled pre-wrapped sandwiches out of a refrigerator and put them in the microwave. With the wrap still on it!! WHAT?! So the two sandwiches I ordered are now, so soggy with microwaved burger bun (also, way to cheap out on the bread) and a disgusting amount of mayo that now I can’t eat it. Also, I was told they order their meat. You’d think a meat market would be ordering from local meat producers (the hill country has plenty) and I was told from an employee that they order it. I usually receive excellent service here but not today. I asked for a cold club sandwich because I do not like the taste of hot deli meat and they heated up my sandwich anyways. I spoke to whom I believe is one of or the owner and he knows I'm a regular customer and he told me that he had no more club sandwiches left and no buns to make more and that he gave me the last club but I know for a fact the person behind me in line got a club as well. He handed the hot club sandwich back to me and just said sorry. He seemed to care more about keeping the money I spent on the sandwich than to make it right with an unsatisfied customer. He didn't even offer a refund or a different sandwich. A good manager or business owner would at least do that and care to keep a regular customer. I will no longer do...

I have had several cows butchered over the years with Dutchman's Market. I am especially pleased with Sloan, Barry, and Bret's advice how to make my cuts better each time I use them. The daily service by the rest of the staff is exceptional too. I have made their sandwiches and ready to eat products (jerky and dried SAUSAGE) my lunch and dinner for many years.

You can be proud when you bring the animal you loved and raised for food to be butchered by the Dutchman team. I respect the animal I have raised and they have the expertise and reverence to butcher it.
