I have been going to the gym for close to 8 months. I have recently gotten a personal trainer, Lily, who has really devoted her time. She is extremely passionate and caring regarding my goals and needs. The workout she has planned for me has been successful and she has made me more conscientious of my own nutrition and health needs. She is extremely diligent and encouraging and I am grateful to have the opportunity to learn about myself and what my body needs. She is very understanding, she always listens to me about my body's needs during a workout and will understand that if I cannot do something we can always go back to it after or try something different that day. The facility itself is spacious, always clean, very organized and incredibly welcoming. The trainers are evidently passionate about their clients’ success; pushing them out of their comfort zone as needed, but also modifying and encouraging breaks if necessary. They are extremely friendly and comforting, and they get to know and understand their members on a personal level, which is a huge perk of becoming a member at a smaller hometown facility. With the bigger gyms, I thought being lost in the crowd was best for me and I would be encouraged by seeing those around me. I was SO wrong and gave up for many years thinking I would figure it out on my own. Hearing about AF, their coaches and small training groups has changed my world! There is no need to get lost in the crowd but rather become part of it. There is help if you need it, camaraderie if you want or total autonomy to just get your workout done. Whatever the case is, I see people welcomed, most often by name, respected and appreciated.
