My stars are for all the team members and the overall experience. It had been a few years since I've been here, so it was fun to come back. My friend and I were there by opening (which I recommend since they don't take reservations for more than a party or large groups). We out painted everyone that came in when we did, plus many who came in after. While I'd love to leave a compliment for just 1 staff member, we even outlasted the shift change. There were 3 issues I had 1. The team member assigned to our table didn't check on us like other members did for their tables. We had to flag someone down when we needed more supplies. 2. The table for two is not exactly the best size. Especially if youre working on a bigger piece (i had a dinner plate) and if you add all the tools and supplies it gets crowded. 3. The team member assigned to us didn't tell us they were leaving, and someone else would assist us and the team member that took her spot didn't introduce themselves.
That said, I found it rather annoying to receive emails and texts encouraging I leave a review for a specific team member. We weren't helped by just the one assigned to us when we arrived. We were helped by 3 to 4 in the four and a half hours we were there.
Overall, it was fun, and my pieces turned out nicely. We are already planning...
Read moreWhile painting with my partner was a fun experience, the overall value didn’t quite live up to expectations. When we walked in, we were told the price was $10, which initially seemed like a great deal, but we soon realized that it wasn’t exactly what it seemed. We ended up waiting for almost two hours to be seated, and once we sat down, we were informed that the prices for each piece were listed underneath, with the cheapest starting at $20—far more than the $3 cost of a similar item online.
The two staff members working that night were not very helpful. They didn’t provide much of an explanation or guidance, and their attitude seemed less than enthusiastic, which made the experience less enjoyable. To make matters worse, after we finished painting and paid, we were told we couldn’t pick up our finished piece for a week because it needed to be kiln-fired. This important detail should have been shared with us at the start, especially considering we live an hour away. Coming back just to pick up such a small, expensive item felt unnecessary and frustrating.
It would have made a huge difference if the staff had provided all the necessary information upfront and seemed more engaged and positive about the work they do. Better communication and a more upbeat atmosphere would greatly improve...
Read moreMy husband and I love coming to this Color Me Mine for weekend dates. It's very clean, the staff are friendly and helpful, and if you get there a little before opening, you can usually get a table as long as you are part of the first 12 or so people at the door.
Sarah, our team member, was very helpful in explaining how to use the red tracing paper since I wanted to try a more detailed and layered design this time with a vase. There were other team members who also checked in on us to get more paints or detail brushes.
While the clay blanks can be pricey, it"s honestly worth it if you don't have the materials at home to do this. I also opt for cheaper, plain options and add detail on top of them: I would have loved the abstract t-rex figurine but not for $57 when I could pay $26 for the plain vase and paint a dinosaur on there. We love the mushroom bird feeder though and were happy it came with a metal hanger added after firing and glazing. They always package each piece with care and the notes made...
