I came in to the store just to purchase an America the Beautiful pass for the year. While standing in line the woman the register, Kira, immediately started off the transaction by asking for my phone number, to which I said I don't give that out. Then she asked me to provide the phone number of any other person I know who shops at their store. I simply said, I am just here to buy the pass. Her tone changed immediately, and she said "heard you loud and clear!" She became incredibly rude to me, slamming items around on the counter and giving me a very dirty look. Then she handed me the pass and did so with such force she almost slapped it into my hand. Then handed me my receipt and said since you don't wanna be a member you'll have to just take the paper receipt. She said it to me as if it was offensive that I didn't provide her with my personal information.
I've never felt so pressured in my life to sign up for a membership to something I didn't wish to join. Nor have I ever experienced a customer service representative treat a customer so poorly after they politely refused to join.
I have no other real complaints with the store itself, but felt it was important to point out my experience with their staff at this location. Definitely don't recommend coming here if the staff is being trained to treat customers like this if they don't spend extra money or sell away their personal...
Read moreThe products here are great. REI brand items are excellent in quality in addition to all the other big brands in outdoor equipment which this store carries. I wish the prices were a bit lower, but as a co-op member I typically get 10% back every year, so it is as if all items are always 10% off. The return policy is great. I had some crummy gear that I held onto for years hoping I could get it to work right. I returned it without any problems. Staff here has been helpful since the store opened. The only time I've had trouble finding someone is during their busy times or sales. They are friendly and knowledgeable about gear and about nearby hikes. It's hard to restrain myself from talking to them for too long about recent hikes or hikes I'm dreaming of. The Used Gear Sale is great, I saved over $100 just by buying slight used gear the one time I was able to make it to the sale. I'm still wearing the pair of shoes and the pants I bought a year and a half ago. I've kicked myself several times for buying gear elsewhere and being less than satisfied with it, wishing other stores had as good of a return policy. I'll look around at other stores and online but I almost always wind up buying...
Read moreNot deserving of one star. I used to shop this particular location a lot in 2019. All of the folks were super helpful and very polite. I don't know what happened during 2020, but they are so rude inattentive and not worthy of the customers that walk in. I was there with a friend on Saturday to get some odds and ends for my new bike. The 1st guy who addressed us (didn't catch his name, but he was short with tattoos all on his neck w/ dark hair.) was extremely rude. I prepared to walkout empty handed. However, another young man came to my rescue and answered all of my questions and I left satisfied with my purchase. Unfortunately, one of the items didn't work out and I had to go back into return it today. Again encountered extremely rude MOD (manager on duty) this time. He ignored the fact that I was waiting in line and help some random person who wasn't even at the line at all. I guess I was standing on the line marked 'Line Starts Here' for my health. What an *ss. I need to figure out how to get a refund on the membership. Why would I EVER go there again? NOT! Side note: Don't have them service your bike. They have no idea what...
