Go Sunpower. I’m late to the party but I have arrived. After extensive research I want to tell people do not fall in love with the sales person fall in love with the product. Sure LG and Panasonic make a good panel and others I cannot pronounce make a fair product but can you call LG or Panasonic for a troubleshooting warranty no! Your troubleshooting warranty is only as good as your installers business and installers come and go. Sunpower creates a complete system design from start to finish and backed by A 25 year parts and labor warranty on all solar components. I knew I was going with Sunpower but before I set up an appointment with them I got quotes from Vivint and Sunrun. Sunpower came in at a better price with a better product and the best warranty. Now my roof with additions rivals the Winchester mystery House. I told all sales people maximize solar production with placement. All companies have vastly different plans. Now for Sunpower I picked a master dealer from their website Sunpower by Quality Home Service in Fresno. QHS was fantastic working with my schedule. When their team arrived to install they marked the layout of my first agreed-upon Solar placement. After talking with their head installer and looking at my crazy roof with all the fire walk setbacks some placement changes could be made to increase my production. I am all in let’s do that. Mother office at QHS (I think this is where the Master dealer installers status comes in) in real time contacted city permit department for design changes. I bet that was a pain. The end results on paper I got over a 5% increase in production for my 38 panel system and over 25 years at current PG&E prices that’s around $4000. Read more12/14/18 We would highly recommend Sun Power by Quality Home Services. We are quite pleased with what our solar panels are doing for us AND for our electric bill! It has been a pleasure doing business with SUN POWER by Quality Home Services over the last several months! Our sales person Erica Rohlfing has been so very informative and attentive. At our first appointment at our home with Sun Power she and Adam were so helpful, answering our questions as to how solar works and what to expect from it. I especially appreciated not being high-pressured at all. Since that first appointment with Sun Power, Erica has continued to call to check up on us every few weeks, and to ask how our new solar system is working out for us. Our system has been up and running for over 3 months now. We know any time we have questions we can call or text Erica or the Sun Power team and they will gladly take the time to respond. This is just one example of how the Sun Power team strived to accommodate us and our desires as to what we had hoped to achieve if we took the big step and went solar: In the beginning we had decided to contract for just enough panels (plus 5% extra) to continue using our electricity the same as before our solar was installed. But then after our installation date had been officially put on their busy summer schedule, we decided we’d like to get more panels to allow us to spoil ourselves now and then – like run the AC a little more during the hot summer evenings. Erica and Sun Power didn’t want our installation date to be delayed so they managed to arrange it so that our additional panels could be installed at a slightly later date rather than combine the order into one which would have delayed the entire installation. Read moreAfter almost 3 months, several phones call with both Quality Home Services and Sun Power, and a new inverter, my solar system appears to be working fine. In addition, according to Alice from Home Quality Services, she submitted a request to re-evaluate the system and ensure that my system is/was producing the expected power. I will post an update as things progress.
I purchased a solar system from SunPower by Quality Home Services around May of 2019. In the first year after having the system installed, I received a true up bill of $600. I contacted customer service about the true up bill, and I was told that most likely it was due to increased electical usage as a result of stay-at-home orders due to COVID. At that time, the customer rep said they would follow up with me at a later time to see how the system was performing. I never received a follow up call. In the second year, I received a true up bill of $700. Now in the third year, I received a true up bill of $1000. I have tried to be conscious of our electrical usage to avoid a true up bill but it seems like nothing I did was helping. I checked the tracking app and found that the system was producing less than a kW of electricity on a very sunny day. The app also depicted an exclamation point indicating that there was an issue with the system. I contacted customer service on May 25th to request servicing. I also asked if they could check if this issue had happened before. I was told that my system had a similar problem in December of 2021 which resolved itself. I was also told that someone would get back to me in a 24-48 hour timeframe. Unfortunately, I have yet to hear back from anyone. Every day that passes, I am losing out on production of energy.
