Gaines Marketplace — Local services in Gaines Charter Township

Easily one of our favorite Meijer locations in Kent County. This store is always clean, well-stocked, and their produce section is kept up and organized. They do run out of produce stickers quite a bit and this could be improved upon as far as replacement, however staff is always willing to help out even if not their department. Something else to keep your eye on is the sale prices for produce do not often match what is entered in the scale/sticker area so remember to double check the prices that pop up before you print your label and have it changed at the cash register before you pay too much.

The staff in the meat department is not as friendly or accommodating as the Meijer at 28th and Kalamazoo, however, their selection of types of meats is a bit more broad here at this location.

We appreciate that they keep their electric carts charged and will get you one even if they have to go search for one.

The bathroom cleanliness is hit or miss. Sometimes it is nice and clean, other times it looks like a biological warzone.

The self-checkout and shop and scan is thoroughly convenient and user friendly, and this store has the best greeters. One of our favorites is "Doug".

If you're looking for fresh groceries please go to Meijer next door. If you need home decor, clothing, baby/nursery, or cosmetics Target is a great spot to shop. There's a 🌟 Starbucks inside and they have those huge carts that can handle two toddlers and a baby. Customer service is great, but you do have to use the self check out if you're shopping before noon, so be prepared to bag your own items if you shop in the morning. The offer free site to store shipping if you're online shopping. I picked up an item within 5 minutes of arrival, very quick easy pick up located at the front of the store. They even suggested trying on the item when I questioned the fit. Store dressing rooms are large and well lit, and they have staff available to accommodate clothing shopping much like at a mall retailer. They write your name on the door and offer to help you if you need it, but without the sales pressure of a high end clothing retailer. I visit this store almost every single day I love the fact that somebody greets me when I come in and it is a quick shot before I take my son to school I can find my lunch stop by Subway if we weren't able to pack my son's lunch for the day everything is just here I use the scan every day the only thing that I can say that I would change is the fact that the coolers where I check out over by the produce section are not that cold the drinks that I get are usually a little under 50 degrees that's just a guess but it is not...
