I think word needs to be spread so that what happened to me doesn't happen to anyone else. I began working as a server at Haru Sushi on Marketplace Drive about six months ago. I really enjoyed it at first and after about a month or so after befriending one of the servers, he told me to be careful and that the company was not as great as I thought it was. I soon learned this to be the truth. I heard many employees complain that their checks would be short. I quickly worked my way up to being one of the top servers at Haru, since I was always on time and was always complimented by customers and did any and everything I could to make sure the place was sparkly clean and organized because this is how the owner, Suna, liked it to be. However, I had not quite experienced the bad side just yet. One night, I had finished all of the closing duties, and two of the other servers were just finishing up; the owner walks in and sees I had nothing left to do and starts SCREAMING at me that I always need to be doing something, and continued to scream at me even after I explained I did everything already. We constantly had to pay Haru when the drawer was "short" even if there were explanations for the shortage or even if there was no shortage at all. We had to pay up to $80 once and the drawer is short multiple times a week. This is a lot of money they have received from us for unexplained reasons. I became manager about a month ago and this is when the real trouble started between myself and the restaurant. I had many suggestions as neither of the owners were there often anymore and there were many problems that needed to be fixed. Obviously, me making suggestions was a mistake, it needed to be the owner's way or the highway. My job was threatened simply for making suggestions, so I decided to just keep my mouth shut and work and serve customers like I usually do. Suna, the owner, started targeting me at this point, getting angry at things that I did that have been going on for months that I was never told was wrong, things that the other servers/managers were doing also. One day she came into the restaurant and starts screaming at me in front of all of our customers because she didn't like the shirt I was wearing. I calmly asked her not to do this in front of customers and she was FURIOUS. I started crying, upset of course and she tells me to leave and later mass texts all of the other servers that I was fired! She fired me for no apparent reason and with no notice. I'm not sure if she learned that I am half black, since they fired every single black person that set foot into that restaurant, or if she is just angry and unsure of where to release her frustrations. But this place is a terrible place to work, especially if you have a mind of your own, and I doubt that their customers would want to continue coming here if they knew everything that happened behind the scenes and the way they treat people. I don't think I ever watched anyone wash their hands. Sad they have potential, but no means or knowledge on how to run a restaurant successfully as far as managing their employees. I've spoken with all of the members of the staff and almost all are at their...
Read moreHAIR IN MY FOOD TWICE!! 🤢
Yesterday, I treated myself to a special meal while my daughters were away. After picking up my food, I went to my car to check that I had received the sauces I had requested. When I opened my container, I found a long black hair sitting on top of the tinfoil and wrapped around the gochujang. I decided to leave it for them to see and went back inside to ask them to remake my meal. Their reaction was strange; it seemed almost as if they were expecting this, and there was no concern at all about finding hair in their food.
Inside the restaurant, there aren’t many places to wait without being in the way, so I stood there awkwardly while they remade my dish.
Honestly, my intuition told me to check the meal before leaving, but I was already feeling uncomfortable and was late to meet a friend at my house. When I got home, I made sure to double-check, and to my surprise, I found ANOTHER HAIR. This time, it was cooked into the meat. I’ve attached photos, but I will also be sharing the video. I can understand making a mistake once, but finding hair twice in a row either indicates that the restaurant is dirty and careless, or it may have been intentional.
The video is a lot more detailed and you can see how it was cooked into the meat.
I would avoid this restaurant unless you want to eat a...
Read more(Michigan is shut down right now so all our food ordered is to go) With that said, I went in and asked for a menu, they barely acknowledged me at all, when there was a chef & waitress right there, I had to say hello & ask, then they gave me one. I went outside to read it, my friend I came with was ordering at Qudoba next door, so I decided on my order & I went back in to order it, they AGAIN barely acknowledged me, they completely disregarded me as the person that walked in 2 minutes earlier to get a menu, I had to say I decided on blah blah ..... & before I could finish talking the chef behind the counter interrupted & told me to stand behind the tables to order, so I did that... Then I went to express again what I wanted & the waitress came out from the back & told me I had to stand even further back towards the door even though I was behind their line & tables, mind you I'm about to order a ton of expensive sushi, at a local place, I'm a Bartender for over 20 years so I have a ton of tolerance for this stuff, but there was not a soul in town or in this joint, & at this point I had been so rudely treated I didn't even order, I left my menu & walked out...I went & got Mexican instead.
So honestly, the food may be good, I don't know, but I won't be back considering how horrific the...
