Went to purchase a gift card. The cashier tried 3 times and at the time of the transactions, showed deductions from my debit card. The 3rd time she tried a different credit card and gave me an activated card plus the receipt. We called in a manager to correct the first two deductions. He couldn't figure it out but submitted a credit for the an amount close to the gift card. Said it would be returned to my account in a few days. Thinking I had an activated gift card, I passed it along to a friend who had watched my dog while we were away.
A couple of weeks later my friend took she and her husband to Panera for lunch. But when she used the card it had a zero balance. I went back to Panera to discuss the problem and was told it had never been charged to my card. That I must bring in a bank statement to prove the discrepancy. Sorryfor the problem and the embarrassment I suffered with my friend, but nothing they could.
I did check my account and found it had not been charged, however my issue is; I left in good faith that I had an activated gift card along with multiple receipts to document the transaction.
I never expected something for nothing, but the lack of concern on the part of the manager is appalling. I even called customer support who said a district manager would contact me within 24-48 hours. That's been over a week...no contact.
Needless to say, I purchased another gift card for my friend but definitely not from Panera.
There lack of concern for their customers is unacceptable.
Will never enter another Panera again, nor will my friend.

I’m also really curious why rapid pickup orders are not put on the specific shelf for rapid pickup? I once walked in after I was texted that my order was “ready” and my order was not on the shelf. I gave the benefit of the doubt and waited 20 minutes before walking back to the food counter and saw 4-5 bags sitting back there, my order included. There were others that experienced the same thing while I was there.

The guy who took our order did get it right but neglected to tell us that we could collect our cookies right there at the counter. We sat down and I was notified that was our food was ready. I had to ask where to pick it up and once we were just about done, I realized that I never received our cookies so had to go up to the counter and ask about them them. The guy who helped us was on the phone so another person gave me the cookies and explained that he should have given them to us right at the counter.
