Iâm giving this place 2 stars instead of 1, only because the front desk staff were nice. Short version: DO NOT GO HERE! *Explanation: My boyfriend woke up on 7/7/25 to a worsening of his symptoms of a red, swollen, VERY painful right ankle and foot, for which heâd recently gone to the ER at Northeast Georgia Hospital. I worried-from personal experience- that he might have a blood clot. Luckily, the ER staff ruled that out with a Doppler ultrasound. They had also done extensive blood tests and given him several diagnoses. So when his ankle and foot got SIGNIFICANTLY worse and extremely painful overnight, I suggested to my BF that he go to this Urgent Care, as itâs affiliated with the hospital he went to, and has access to all of those records, including results of all his lab work. I drove my BF bc he was in too much pain to drive with his giant red BALLOON FOOT!. I canât remember the full name of the doctor who examined my BF, but his last name started with an L. So, despite my BF and I both telling first the initial triage nurse and then Dr. L about my BFâs recent visit to the ER of the affiliated hospital, NO ONE bothered to look at his hospital chart!! Dr. L LITERALLY just shrugged and brushed me off when I spoke up for my timid BF and repeated my question of WHY he wouldnât look at my BFâs records and lab results. My BF and I had researched what all of the lab results could indicate, and I futilely tried to tell Dr. L what we had discovered, hoping that he would look at the results himself and give us the actual medical professionalâs opinion we had paid for. Alas, Dr. L seems to be one of those egotistical doctors who thinks his patients (and their partners) are completely clueless about (1) their own bodies and (2) anything suggested/asked about from personal experience and/or medical research from sources such as The Mayo Clinic and the NIH (literally National scientific studies). Instead, our concerns/questions/suggestions were blown off and we received a blow-hard speech about the laundry list of potential causes of my BFâs symptoms. SO NOT helpful! Then Dr. L suggested that my BF get a full work up done at a PCP office (explaining that neither the ER nor the Urgent Care did those kind of lab tests). Ok, great! But instead of recommending ACTUAL Primary Care doctors, Dr. L referred us to several indigent care centers, who also do NOT do those lab tests, bc my BF had been self-pay. Despite my BF and then I insisting money wasnât an issue, Dr. L was insistent we go to one of those places to âsee if we liked themâ. Interestingly, during a long wait for the steroid injection Dr. L had ordered for my BF, he had evidently FINALLY looked at my BFâs vitals which had been taken by the triage nurse. When he saw BFâs high blood pressure, on top of his presenting symptoms, Dr. L emphasized the urgency of my BF getting a full work up and labs done ASAP. YET he still insisted that my BF go to clinics known for NOT performing this level of care.Dr. L also completely ignored my BFâs acute pain. Iâve seen my BF rip his face open in a dirt bike wreck and insist that it doesnât hurt, so if he says something hurts, itâs a 10/10 on the pain scale! I am often given a shot of an NSAID at my usual Urgent Care, so I asked if that could be done for my BF (who HAD reported his pain as a 7/10). Nope. You would have thought Iâd asked for freaking MORPHINE! Not basically prescription Advil! So in conclusion, if you want to waste your time being looked down on by Dr.Egotistical, having your pain completely ignored, and given conflicting instructions for follow up care, go here. Otherwise RUN away as fast as you can! Go to Northside Urgent Care in Dawsonville if you can. You couldnât pay ME to see this...
Read moreI went there last Tuesday, 11/12 for first time. Saw Dr Maya. Diagnosis: Bronchitis. Prescribed medicine and said if not better call me Thursday. I did and he changed one med. Said I wont be back until Monday so see me then if not better. Received survey and gave 5 stars for staff and dr. Now call today to see that he is in - wow, who is covering the desk and greeting patients - wow, not the ladies I saw last week. Guess this girl is there to collect her check and that's all. No patient care. He is not in. I was surprised and asked if he would be in tomorrow. No you can see another doctor. "Well he listened to my lungs and all, so he would recognize a difference if there was one." They rotate and she has no idea who will be on tomorrow. Really - there is no schedule posted in that entire place that says who is on call for each day. Guess they call the doctor in the morning and let him know what office he is driving too - ya think. It is just amazing the difference in one person who covers the desk and helps patients and the body that fills the chair and could not care less about you and your problem. Sad.
Update: Went one more time on Saturday the 23rd, Girl at front desk was so cheerful and outgoing. Did see Dr. Can't believe I stepped on something - and through my shoe the pressure caused another problem. Expensive month, but I must say the service is excellent. Wait not long, and you can see PA or Doctor - just specify your need. Dr explained what was wrong and gave me med to help. Told me to leave on my trip as I would be fine. And so I did! I would definitely recommend for their care. Can't let one bad apple...
Read moreI've given this urgent care multiple attempts but will not be returning. Several times have had to return to a different doctors office after being misdiagnosed here. Went on a Sunday morning with flu-like symptoms. They were not busy, there was only 2 people waiting ahead of me. Waited about 30 minutes in the waiting area to get called back, not bad. I explained my symptoms and they ran a flu swab.
I waited in the exam room with fever getting worse by the minute. After over an HOUR in the exam room I am visited not by a doctor, but nurse practitioner, who says my flu test was negative and claims it to be a viral infection. She was in and out of the room in about 30 seconds with "Sorry, your test was negative, go home and take some expectorants and you will be fine in a couple days." Basically had me waiting an hour to tell me there was nothing they could do for me. Frustrating. Wrote me a note to clear me to go back to work the following Tuesday.
Tuesday comes and I'm feeling 10x worse so I return to the urgent care in Gwinnett. Was in and out of that facility in an hour and blood test confirmed I definitely had the flu. Not impressed whatsoever with NGHS Urgent Care. I've returned only because of the convenience to where I live, and on occasion have encountered some kind doctors, but 90% of the times I have visited, the staff seems very careless and treats you like just another number. I have been misdiagnosed at NGHS multiple times due to their tendency to fluff things off as "viral." I will be driving 30 minutes out of the way to go to Gwinnett Urgent Care where the staff is much more caring, thoughtful, efficient, and truly helps you to get...
