Yesterday, I made the GREAT discovery of 6140Run! in Galesburg, Illinois. A REAL shoe store, with high quality shoes. I am SO tired of buying things online which don't fit and I have to return them or live with them, and there is NO ONE, no REAL PERSON, to talk to. Here is an OLD-FASHIONED shoe store, where the people in the store are VASTLY KNOWLEDGEABLE of their product and proud of it and sell by convincing you with evidence and experience of the merits of the product, rather than giving you some canned speech. The impressive woman who waited on my knew ALL of the shoes personally, had actually tried all of them out. She even - you will NOT believe this! - put the shoes on my feet and took them off, like shoe stores used to do 50 years ago! I was SO impressed with her that I bought TWO pair of Brooks shoes from her, KNOWING they'd be right. Which they are! I JUST took a two-mile walk in them and they are awesome. Incidentally, the cost of these high quality shoes in this store is not any more than it is online. Maybe even less. AND, I felt good supporting our own merchants here in Galesburg.
