I'm giving the Marketplace five stars because of the vendors Marie, Rosie, and Tom who are all very polite, courteous, knowledgeable, and honest. BUT beware of Peter (or Pierre as he prefers to be addressed), he is none of the above and not very professional, either. I left an antique clock with him for a while so he could research it on the internet while I did some business with another vendor. Without my permission, Peter attempted to wind the clock (when it had already been wound) and he forced the key so hard that he popped the spring! No apologies, no accountability on his part. I have no doubt if a client had inappropriately mishandled a piece of his merchandise he would have insisted they cover the damage or pay full price for it. By the way, it cost me $75 to have the 100+ year old Seth Thomas Ship Bells Clock repaired! I'm just grateful it could be repaired after Peter's inappropriate manhandling! If my rating was only reflective of the owner, Peter (or Pierre if you choose) it would be "big fat ZERO." Peter, you are a classic cad!
P.S. The original estimate to repair the clock that Peter damaged was $75. I just got a call from the repair shop (Arden's - the best clock man in the region) and the actual repairs ran $150!!! Both the clock key and the bells key had been forced to the point of popping! Larry (Arden) told me he also found a fresh scratch on the face of the clock where Peter had obviously been trying to jimmy with the slow/fast armature. Why? Your guess is as good as mine, but the scratch cannot be repaired! As I said, BEWARE OF PIERRE!
Sadly, Peter/Pierre has told me that I cannot come into his store anymore, even to do business with other vendors š. I guess he did not approve of the 5-star review I gave...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHere we ago again⦠:( well I really enjoy this place and have spent a fair bit of money but I likely wonāt return. I purchased two rings (larimar and ocean jasper) from the front kiosk. Both rings stone fell out. I came in and asked politely if they could be fixed and the seller agreed. The following day I came to pick them up and asked for $15. I didnāt complain and handed over my credit card. Then he told me that I didnāt purchase the rings there? I most certainly did, and honestly kind of want to find my bank statements to prove it because I found it beyond rude he insinuated I lied. I try to shop local to support small business owners but sometimes they make it so difficult for me to want to return when I am treated like that. I spent over 45 minutes finding the perfect ring, brought my mom and boyfriend in at a later date who also made purchases. They collectively amounted to $200+ and then Iām told Iām lying about purchasing them there? Why? I shouldāve spoken up but honestly in todays world itās too exhausting to argue...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs soon as I walked in, I was asked to leave my purse at the front desk before the man even said hello. Extremely unprofessional. I was fine leaving my bag but there could have been a more pleasant greeting.
I was here on a visit from Utah for a convention and wanted to spend a little time on my last day here to shop and see what Idaho was like, and this ended the rest of the trip on a sour taste.
They were closing in about 10 minutes and when I had noticed there were more items to glance at near the front desk the man gave a huge sigh out loud. Very rude. After reading the poor reviews on here, I agree with how bad the service this store has. I would not recommend anyone to come here.
Please please please have better customer service, this makes me really disappointed and I'm honestly starting to wonder if there was some racial profiling happening as well.
The bathroom looked like it had not been cleaned in months.
The other man at the crystal/stone counter was great however, thank you for being kind and holding a nice...
