I went in today 10 minutes before closing with my brother, 3 year old daughter, and nephew. I felt bad going in so near closing time, and I'm always nervous with my daughter in coin stores. Typically I can tell most people running coin stores don't appreciate children touching things, and looking around like they do. The guy was awesome. I have never met a friendlier person working in a coin store. Maybe he was the owner, I don't know. I tried my best to make sure my daughter was well behaved, but this guy didn't even seem to notice her. Usually I feel like she gets watched by the workers super close. It was nice because it allowed me to talk a little more with the man, and allow my daughter to reasonably look around herself. The prices were more than fair. In the end even though my purchase was small, I came in right before they closed, and I had children with me I was treated more like a friend than a customer. I've been telling everyone that this was the nicest person I've ever dealt with in a coin store. I honestly can't speak highly enough. I live in Utah, so unfortunately I won't be back much, but if I lived near this store I would solely do business with them. If you live in Boise and you're in the market for coins, jewelry, gold, or silver do yourself a favor, and at the very least check this place out. I was dealing with silver/coins, so I can't exactly speak for the other items, but I imagine they are probably amazing with...
Read moreThere was nothing good about this experience. I have worked in customer service for most of my life and generally try to understand when people are a bit upset or dismissive. However, upon entering the store (I was wearing jeans and a T-shirt) I walked up to the counter and waited for a gentleman to finish his transaction so I could speak to the jeweler. I was there for about 10 minutes when another woman walked in, dressed in heels and a nice pantsuit. Within 30 seconds of entering the store, two other gentleman emerged from the back and greeted her and asked what she was looking for and immediately began to help her. When I finally got help from the man at the counter, he was incredibly rude. He picked up my diamond bracelet and threw it back on the counter without inspecting at all, calling it costume jewelry. Then when looking at the coins I had brought in he said they were worthless and I should try another hobby, without even checking the mint. I have collected coins and jewels since I was seven years old. Each of those pieces should have left me with a value of at least $700 and this gentleman simply told me to stop wasting his time and went back into the back room. This was terrible. There was no source of professionalism and every man that worked there was rude and disrespectful, unless you were dressed to the nines and...
Read more1st Visit I went to the shop again and bought some rounds. I think the price was good. A few older gents and a young lady. Definitely grandpa's shop feel to it. These guys seem to know coins very well. Some of them might be far older than the coins I bought. Of course this place also sells jewelry. It usually doesn't interest me so I didn't look around at it much.
2nd Visit They have a lot of storage selections - more than other shops. For example, they have air tight coin capsules of various sizes. I was able to pick up a harder to find one for a gold coin I have. I also purposely found some of my crappiest silver pieces to sell just to see how they honor prices. The silver round scratched so bad you would think someone ran it over with their car - .50 behind spot. Some random 2g triangular no-name brand fractional... shocked that he gave me spot for that one, I figured he wouldn't buy it at all.
3rd Visit I brought in a harder to find 1995 American Golden Eagle. They usually have a bit higher of premium. I noted that they honored the higher price. I then bought a very nice proof-like high relief lady justice gold coin, and they gave me that one for 4% over spot. I would consider these prices to be better than average.
My opinion of the place is definitely improving. But again, plan...
