BELIEVE ALL THE BAD REVIEWS!!! This place does not care whatsoever about customer service. I joined because it was the closest gym to my home and they participate with the Medicare Silver Sneakers program. I had only been once before my wife decided to join. She signed up for a membership. When she went in the lady who signed her up said it would be a $49 fee plus the monthly fee. She said once a year (next year) she would be charged an annual fee of $49. The lady did the quick “initial here and here and sign”, which my wife did. It was presented as the $49 she paid was the annual fee and that would be the only charge other than monthly charges. Two months later there was another $49 charge on our card. We called and to our surprise we were told that the the first $49 charge was an enrollment fee and the second $49 charge was an annual fee, which was never explained this way when we signed up. I asked to speak to a manager and they did transfer me and he was of no help and would not even listen to anything I have to say or consider compromising. All I was looking for was to correct the second $49 charge and we probably would have moved on without much further thought. However, he noted that we had “signed the contract“ and there was nothing he could do about it. He said ”you signed the form you have to pay.” I asked to speak to someone above him and he said he would contact Matt, The regional manager for Crunch and have him contact me but I would have to send him an email requesting it. I have sent several emails to the manager and it has been over a month and Matt the regional manager has not contacted me. I have called the national headquarters for Crunch and they said that these are private franchises and they have no control over them.
I have quit going to this gym. My wife continues to go because she’s obligated. In addition, what others have said in reviews is true, the place is dirty and the showers are nasty! They communicate poorly. They advertised a class which, my wife put her name on the list for. No one ever called her. She contacted them to find out how to get into the class and they said the instructor would call her, but no one ever called.
I have filed a complaint with the BBB, I have contacted silver sneakers and Medicare to complain about this business, I contacted the Idaho attorney Generals office Consumer Protection division to file a complaint regarding the miss-leading business practice when my wife initially signed up for a membership.
I hope they read this review and contact me because maybe it would be the only way to get them to respond. Be cautious dealing with...
Read moreDO NOT SIGN UP AT THIS GYM! Their business is clearly struggling, new members aren't signing up, management is horrible, it's filthy, poorly run, disorganized, and losing more and more amenities and equipment because it either costs too much to maintain, or they just don't care about their members. These people rob you blind. I went into the Crunch state street location to cancel, but was told the manager wasn't in to cancel it for me, so I needed to email instead. So I did, and got no response. So a day later I emailed again, and still no response. So I went through their customer support on their website, and as of now, no response. If the manager gets back to me by the end of the day today I will bump the rating up, and edit my review to a more positive one about my experience at the gym. As of now I consider them highly unprofessional with their slow response. It seems like they're just trying to milk money out of people, and hoping that I just forget about cancelling, or decide it's too much of a hassle and give up so they can keep billing me. Considering I've tried cancelling in person, was told to cancel through email, and then got no response through email either, this could turn into a legal matter.
Edit: it's now been over a week, I've emailed numerous times, went in to find a manager, and it's as if the front desk people have been told to tell members that the manager isn't there. This company is sinking, and they're taking it out on their members by not allowing them to cancel until they milk every cent possible out of you. I'm scheduling an interview with Boise Dev, KTVB, and I'm blasting them on social media, reviews, I'm talking to current members and they are now trying to cancel memberships at different locations and being hit with the same situation. I will not stop until these people do what's right for their members. This place is a scam, and a garbage gym. Don't waste your money. Go somewhere else. Literally anywhere else.
Edit: after over a week of trying to contact them, and leaving negative reviews on every location in the treasure valley, and contacting the manager of a different location they finally got back to me and say they cancelled my membership. I will be charged one more month as the contract stated, but if billing continues after that I will edit this...
Read moreSince, Crunch took over the gym I have seen a slow but steady decline in quality. The lapse during the height of the COVID epidemic was clearly understandable, but the quality has only continued to decline. Below are some the issues I observed that have led me to leave Crunch:
*The gym is not clean—the workout area is often not clean; you'll see the same dust bunnies and dust/dirt piles in the same places for weeks. *The locker rooms are in need of serious restoration and upkeep—many locker doors are broken and deteriorating, mold and mildew is present, and they are generally not clean. *The bathrooms are often not clean and I have experienced multiple occasions where there is no toilet paper and/or paper towels. *The roof leaks and during/after rain storms the workout area is equipped with buckets to catch rain leaking through the roof. *Often there are no towels available and a couple of times, I was provided a towel that was so worn and torn that it looked like a shop towel from my garage. *The hot tub has been in constant disrepair for months/years—it often is unclean, the water is only luke warm, the jets won't work, or it just isn't open. Several times in the past year of two, I went to the gym specifically to enjoy the hot tub after a skiing workout, only to find that it was either closed or not working properly. *Along those lines, the hot tub was also the source of a recent Legionnaires' disease breakout: Idaho Statesman, July 23, 2023. *Some of the staff are very friendly, but some of the front desk staff are so aloof and unengaged, that they act like your needs are an interruption to their texting or conversations with the other staff. *Twice in the past 3 months, I arrived at the gym at 5:15 a.m. (gym opens at 4:30 a.m.) only to find it was not open (and these were not holidays). *Much of the equipment needs to be maintained/repaired, most of the Swiss balls are often not fully inflated, and equipment is not put away in an orderly manner—even though I usually work out early in the morning, I regularly have to go hunting for various pieces of equipment because they are scattered all...
