I actually like the store itself, mainly for its DVDs which can come at a pretty not-bad price (as low as $6). However,
my reason for the rating is the same as almost every negative review of this company.. first, it gets exhausting to be upsold on a monthly subscription with persistence and long descriptions after I say no, every single time I make a purchase. It feels pushy and I negatively anticipate the interaction every time, which I know isn't the employee's fault. I just say this now cause last time, after it got particularly pushy and made me uncomfortable to the point I caved, I've now gone through 3 days of calling and uncertain answers wether or not I can cancel AND learning I actually signed up for 2 separate subscriptions (store + a magazine subscription), when they made it seem like it was 1 and the magazine was just a part of it. To elaborate:
I tried cancelling the day of, called the number, they first say the magazine is an entirely different subscription and number. I call said number, automated voice tells me I singed up for 2 different magazines with 2 different payments when I'd only selected one, I had the damn paper with me only circling one. Concerning. Regardless I do successfully cancel that part over the phone (when the cashier said I could only do so when I receive a letter in the mail and circle "I do not want to be charged", so I guess that wasn't the case (?))... so back to the store subscription. They say it takes 24-72 hr for my information to even show up in their system to do anything, when the cashier said I can cancel right after walking out the store. So 3 days later, I call and they say they now need me to list my debit card number AND address (which I did but was not comfortable with it at all, confused why they couldn't just look up my account number), they say my card was already used to make an account before this one so it may not have gone through at all, when the cashier had said it worked just fine and I'd been set up. The representative says to call them if it charges me anyway.
So not only have we been through pushy sales tactics, conflicting info, knowing most of my personal info is in that kind of system now, but now I don't even know if I'm going to be charged. And listed my card number and address over the phone to a stranger. Wether or not this technically is, if it looks like a scam and smells like a scam, maybe don't give it your...
Read moreIn October of 2018 I shopped in this store. The cashier signed me up for a trial membership for the VIP backstage pass to get a discount on my current purchases. As any consumer I was excited about the discount. Which probably came to about $12. She gave me a whole pamphlet of information on this membership. She stated that if I canceled within 30 days that I would not be charged. Within the 30 days I went online and I canceled the subscription. According to the directions in the pamphlet. Fast forward 2 1/2 years. I was scrolling through my credit card statements because my Amazon account had been hacked and I was looking at the charges to make sure that they had all been reversed. While looking through them I found this charge for $11.99 from FYE. It actually took me a little while to figure out what it even was and to remember. I called my credit card company and found out what I could do and I realize that I have been paying $12 a month for the last 2 1/2 years. I have never used the subscription for anything. They would only cancel the subscription and credit me for 4 months😢 I wouldn’t recommend signing up for this to save $12. In the long run it...
Read moreIf I could give NO STARS, I WOULD!! Yes the kids love the store and their products. But, DON'T EVER BUY INTO THEIR BUYING PROGRAM UNLESS YOU USE CASH ONLY! I decided to try their 30day program using my credit card. Before the 30 days was up, I canceled so I wouldn't be charged. This company gave my credit card numbers to the magazine companies(give you free for membership) so they could charge me for magazines that I thought were free. When I disputed the 134.00 dollars that people magazine was trying to charge me(yearly); they come back under a different named magazine(Time magazine) and tried to charge me 50 dollars. I've never even received a Time magazine in my life. After the first 134.00 dollars I changed my credit card numbers with a new card. But, they still were able to charge me. I finally had to put a block on these companies to stop this thievery. It's crazy!! This store/company are LEGAL CROOKS!! I will never spend another cent in that store....
