Food Lion — Local services in Gastonia

I find this store to be way to big for a Food Lion. The empty shelves and meat cases. I know most stores have empty shelves because of the current state of affairs in our country's food supply,and combine that with all the excess shelving, and counter space, butcher and seafood and deli displays oh (and the lifeless pharmacy) they have.Food Lion can really use this store to become a unique food Lion experience just by fully utilizing,re- using all the equipment that was left over when they bought the store from Bi-Lo I don't like the emptiness of this store. I spoke to three separate employees in separate departments I had one look my way, one smile and one dirty look, they all gave me the impression they weren't allowed to talk to customers. I know that can't be their policy but that's the feeling I got. So I'll just keep driving by this food Lion like I always do to the next one (Food Lion) on South New Hope & Beaty rd.update10/22I was just in there they're making really good progress to utilizing all that excess space,,construction is going on as I speak!!! Their deli/ bakery is not open but it's under construction so that's a good thing this is a store that has unlimited potential* Update 5/5/25* This is now my favorite Food Lion!! Construction is now finished, it is now a very large store!!! Every square foot of this store is utilized!!!! Deals everywhere!! Well done...

Food lion doing all self check out now until 10 am or something I guess. Come here all the time multiple times a day/week shopping for customers. Today some old lady was hiding in lane 1 playing with the gum and looking for people to harass at self checkout. As soon as I started checking out she starting pacing back and fourth and staring at me. As soon as I go to walk away from the self checkout with my receipts I just took pictures of she blocks me from walking off and says with a attitude she is gonna have to see my receipts because she didn’t see me scan both waters I had. I was pretty intimidated because I turned around to her in my face and she then grabbed my buggy. I told her to politely 😉 let go of my buggy right now and she backed up a few steps and called for help or whatever on her little earpiece radio. I calmly left and double checked before I went out the door even though I was %10000 sure I paid for both. Really disappointed, I come to shop at food lion for myself and customers for a reason and that’s gone now I guess. Y’all better watch the Walmart training video and get it together and stop making false accusations, because other people would have stayed around and hung out for...

Normally things are fine here, but tonight was noteworthy bad to me. I anticipate that one of my items may cause a problem in the self checkout, so I look for a line with checkout personnel ready. There were none. So fine, self checkout it is. I see another item ring up 69 cents higher than posted (I have 4 of this item), so I enter my phone number in and its accepted. Unfortunately, no changes. Whats the point of that dumb program? I have a cough, so i begrudgingly accept being ripped off. I scan my feared problem item last, and sure enough I am told to go to a checkout line. I point out none are occupied, but she points to a lane with a light. A light with noone visably working it is not ready IMO. I leave the item, my cough prevents me from caring to argue. I feel my bill was higher than it should be, the pricing is misleading. I don't understand why my card membership is different than what grants me a discount?? I thought I had that. Multiple programs are misleading. I plan to just avoid all Food...
