Eggs Up Grill — Restaurant in Gastonia

I’m genuinely struggling to understand how nearly 95% of our order was incorrect. This was our first time trying this place, and unfortunately, it will be our last—not that it seems to matter to them.

We placed our order over the phone with an employee named Monae (as stated on our receipt). Somehow, she rang up almost everything incorrectly. We ordered a Southern Staple Plate, but it was entered as a Southern Bowl. We ordered a Crab-Acado Bowl, but it was rung up as a Crab Benedict. On top of that, we requested a side of hash and were inexplicably charged for an additional one. The only items that were correctly rung up were a kids’ meal, donuts, extra biscuits, and drinks.

When we picked up our order, we trusted the staff to have done their job correctly—both in ringing up the order and packing it properly. That was our mistake. We didn’t double-check the bag, assuming basic accuracy in service.

Upon arriving home, we discovered that the Crab-Acado Bowl we ordered was missing entirely, replaced by a Crab Benedict with no side of hash (despite being charged extra for it). As for the Southern Staple Plate? Not only did we not receive that, but we didn’t even get the incorrectly rung-up Southern Bowl. We got nothing. Meaning my pregnant wife had no breakfast.

We spent $60 only to come home and have to cook because of this massive mistake.

To top it off, when I called to address the issue, the manager initially offered a refund. However, in the background, we could clearly hear who we assume was the owner rudely refusing to refund the full amount. Given other reviews, this seems to be a pattern.

Went for a late-morning breakfast last Sunday (3/6) and the experience was not good - from the moment we walked in the door, until we left. The host seemed a bit irritated to be bothered by taking our name - tossed the clipboard and pen on the table after taking our name, didn’t say anything to us and walked away. Thankfully, it was not busy.. we waited maybe 15 minutes. The young server also seemed irritated that she had to wait on our table (located right behind the host stand) - barely spoke, very unfriendly, no smile. We were at our table for 10 minutes before she came over, asked for our drinks and what we wanted to order - seemed a bit rushed. When she brought our drinks, coffee for my wife and I, she slid the cups and spilled coffee on the table.. and didn’t bother to clean it up. It wasn’t until she came back 10 minutes later did we ask for napkins to clean up the coffee she spilled. She tossed a stack of napkins on the table and sloppily wiped a portion of it up, walked away and left the rest for us to clean. The food was really mediocre at best - just your standard breakfast fare - nothing exciting. The overall experience was just not worthy of a return visit. Considering they’ve only been open a couple of months, and the fact the wait for a table just two Sundays before was 1 1/2 - 2 hours, I was expecting much more. Very excited to have a new breakfast spot here in Gastonia, not many diners around here. We visited yesterday, the food was really good our waitress was very kind and attentive. We will definitely be back, but there was a couple things we didnt like. It seemed as if the place was understaffed, when we walked in the hostess said about 15-20 minutes to be seated but there were plenty of open booths and tables. The front lobby started piling up with people and we were all standing there shoulder to shoulder waiting to be seated. After waiting for what felt like 30 minutes a woman came back and told the hostess to seat 3 people, the first family she seats had walked in for a table about 10 minutes after we did! This deffinitly furrowed my browls because I had to be back at work but I didnt say anything. Once we were seated they started seating everyone who was up front waiting, some who had just walked in a few minutes prior. I guess we chose a bad time to go, I wasnt expecting it to take an hour and a half to eat here, thankfully I have an understanding boss. The other thing that we didnt like was the fries I got with my food were delicious and had some kind of yummy season salt on them, we ordered another side of fries to go and they didnt have the season salt on them.
