10/11/2025: Upgraded to 4 stars as they finally got rid of the self checkouts. I'd much rather have the price increases pay employees, than entitled "shoppers" who stuff their pants pockets with steaks.
Update, 6/22/2024: Worst aldi trip ever. A woman walks up to my car in parking lot and gives a sob story about renewing a hotel room in Shady Grove (10 miles away!) and demands $24. I show her my dashcam and tell her to get lost. Then go into the store, lots of out-of-stocks (3 packs of vine tomatoes left, all heavily soaked in tomato juice, which will mold up really nicely in a day or two. No applesauce cups. No jalapenos.). Get to the front and the one non self checkout has cash only sign like last summer. She says her reader is broken. Open one of the other registers, this is clearly trying to force self checkout. The data connection works, because the self checkout readers work.
Again went to the MV Lidl, and found lots of items that were discontinued by Aldi (Worcestershire sauce, vine tomatoes by the pound (vs shrinkwrapped, actual corn on the cob in the husk, canned enchilada sauce). Lidl doesn't do self checkout (which can be used against you in a civil claim any time in the future, so a failing company with all that video footage is very dangerous). Aldi is still a little cheaper for their doorbusters like eggs (about 0.25 cheaper cream cheese 0.25 cheaper and milk was also a little cheaper) and has a better location (for me). On two recent trips Aldi also "stole" my quarter by doing cart switch at register, with one that has no quarter in it.
Last years write up:
I love the concept of Aldi: banishment of Big Brand, reasonable quality store brands about half the price of Big Brand, small store, fast checkout. Unfortunately they ripped out most of the manned checkouts and installed a bunch of accusatory boxes (self checkouts). Today 08/20, they were self-checkout only with a cardboard sign on door "no cash cards only". Due to this I discovered there is a reasonable back way to the MV LIdl which has no...

5 minutes ago New I go to this Aldi very often and my experience is never good. First of all why are you guys almost forcing people to do self checkout. They have one lane thatās for checkout with employees service. I write this as a black woman myself. They have two black woman that are the rudest human beings that Iāve ever encountered. One is always loud and yelling at customers, does not know how to talk to customers that come to that store and spend hundreds of dollars. The attitude is just outright disgusting. Today February 9th 9:00 I went to the store I encountered another employee (black lady) I had a lot of stuff because I did my weekly grocery shopping. Obviously Iām not doing self checkout with all that stuff. She was standing by the cash register and the moment she saw me she walked away and started to act busy. I said good morning maāam is this lane open?ā She looked at me and rolled her eyes with no response. I stood there for at least 5 minutes before she decided to come do her job. Why come to work if youāre not ready to work is my question. This kind of attitude is atrocious and itās sad that this is how a lot of customers are treated at this store. Iāve also witnessed it happening to others. Self checkout should be an option. Why is it being forced down peopleās throats? That lady I encountered this morning was a miserable human being and I could have matched that disrespect but I chose to take the high road. Even after the eye roll and no response to my question. I didnāt say anything. I waited till she felt like coming to ring my stuff, I paid and left. I would get fired if I treated my customers like that at work itās also not my character. Itās sad that the aldi employees lack respect and professionalism. This behavior is not fair to customers and something should be done or youāll lose customers. You already lost me and others from a lot of the reviews Iām...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and 11 year old daughter went in there today to get a few things And one of there cashier's CALANDER remembered my husband from the last time he was in there and started making comments like "you finally have a cart this time" of course my husband doesn't remember faces but here he did cause of what she did and said to him the last time he was there. This time she see's my 11 year with him and ask "is that your dad?" my answers and says "yes" and starts laughing and starts downing her father in front of her.
When my husband and daughter came home they told me what happened and I told my husband I will be right back and took my 11 year old with me and returned to the store. Once I have arrived I asked my daughter to point out the cashier that was disrespectful to her and her dad. She wasn't there turns out she was in the back on break. I then asked another cashier for the Manager when a manager was radio to come up front CALANDRA happens to pop her head out of the break room and see my daughter and hurrys back inside! The Manager Jason come up front and I told him what happened he then went into the break room to talk to her cause I asked him to have her apologize to my daughter. He took a bit before he return back to were me and my daughter was standing and told me that CALANDRA got emotional and wouldn't come out to apologize to my 11 year old for the comments she made about her dad to her. This cashier has issues and is not fit for customer service. The Manager had to apologize for the cashier's behaviour that there shows me that this cashier was not just guilty but didn't want to apologize to a child!
I hope I never see her during...
