Thriving city, ok yes, that is true. But it's a place you visit not live. I have lived in Gilbert for 13 years. The number 1 reason why I want to move is the Town of Gilbert Utilities Department. For longest time at the beginning I had my utilities payments automatically deducted from my checking account. Until I caught several discrepancies. Even after having them send me an account history including billed amounts and payments so I could point out where I was over charged they refused to do anything. It has been a constant battle with them from one thing to another. Months go by with meter issues with double bills and then all of sudden go back to normal. They even broke the pipe leading to my house from the meter during a meter check (which the tech came to door to have me comeout to see and he admitted to stabbing pipe with his stick tool that they use to check meters.) But since the broken pipe was on my side of the meter it was my responsibility to fix. They are not customer oriented and jump at chance to shut off your water and to randomly charge extra fees...

Read this if you have kids!! I spoke to Debbie in Traffic and Safety Dept to find out how to request a crosswalk go in at a busy intersection with no traffic light. There aren't any crosswalks for a 2 mile stretch between Higley & Power on Ocotillo. Debbie said Gilbert only puts in crosswalks at lighted intersections. I said there isn't a safe way for my kids to get across. She said then drive your kids across the street. I asked is that the only solution? She said that's when I need to put my 'parenting skills into place' and that she personally wouldn't let her children cross a busy street.
