Mythical is a cool new coffee shop and roasterie just opened up in Gilbert. Unique to local coffee spots, Mythical doesn't rely on an outside roaster to supply its finished beans. Instead, they custom roast their own stock. And it shows. This is custom coffee experience for the true coffee lover.
The shop is bright and spacious with 12 tables of various sizes, music playing lightly in the background and friendly talk happening at around the room. It's the kind of place you can go and meet with a friend and talk. The vibe is new and yet peaceful.
I tried the chai tea latte and it was perfect. Not too sweet, which is tiring in a chai drink, but nicely and warmly spiced. Also tried was a standard latte. The milk was airated perfectly so the steamed milk and foam had a great mouth feel and the latte art was flawless. The espresso (roasted in-house) was Ethopian, it had fruit and nut notes. It's exactly what a latte should highlight, the espresso and not gobs of sugar and whip cream.
The shop also has homemade tasty pastries for a lite snack whilst you are enjoying your beverage. I chose the cranberry scone and I must say it was marvelous. The lightly heated it for me and it was delicious.
The staff was friendly and warm, like the drinks and pastries. They took our order quickly, which was nice so that the line moved along swiftly. The staff served our drinks quickly and even brought one of them to our table.
The prices were actually very good, and not exorbitant like is the case with many custom coffee shops.
Overall the experience at Mythical was excellent and I definitely recommend this new...
Read moreWe really wanted to like this place. Weâve been waiting for a coffee shop to open within walking distance from our neighborhood and couldnât wait to visit. The staff are super friendly, Greta atmosphere and the shop has lots of seating inside as well as a couple bistro tables outside where you can sit out with your dog(s). We only wish there was someplace to park our bikes. Their menu is limited, but thatâs a good think IMO. I was wanting a double espresso, but not for $7 so I just ordered a drip and my wife ordered a cappuccino. I was surprised when I noticed they donât have a station for adding sweetener or cream/milk. I found a jar of sugar and strirrers on the counter, but Iâm a Stevia guy. My coffee tasted very âoffâ and my wife was very grossed out by her cappuccino. I took a sip and it had a strong almond flavor. We didnât realize they use flavored coffee until reading about their beans on their website. We both found the coffee absolutely disgusting. Itâs a bold move to open a small coffee shop and only offer flavored coffee when a chain coffee shop will be opening up across the street from them very soon. I really wish they offered regular beans because this would be a perfect coffee shop for the neighborhood. This is a great place if youâre into flavored coffees, but we enjoy the flavor of the beans without adding extra herbs and spices to mask the flavor so will have to take Mythical Coffee off...
Read moreThe coffee was pretty good, I don't mind paying $6 for a latte if it's good. And the menu overall looks interesting and good. But over $5 for 1 slice of bread with cinnamon or jam on it? I should have looked closer at the prices before ordering. I didn't expect 3 pieces of toast and a small latte to cost like $25
Edit to reply to response: I had assumed it was more expensive since cost is added to items on postmates (which I totally understand, I would do it if it was my business too), so I checked online to see how much it would have cost in person. I saw the picture of the printed menu and it said the 2 types of toast are $5 and $4. Even if the toast I ordered would have been $4 before tax (which is what it looks like now that I checked again) that's pretty pricey for one slice of bread with cinnamon and sugar. I'm definitely not saying the food and coffee was bad, and I would like to try more of the menu. I just think it's...
