I’m not one to leave a review but my experience had me feeling weird all day after my service. First I want to start off by saying i’ve been to this salon a few times for haircuts. i love the location, and decor inside. I have had 0 problems with this place up until my appointment on monday. My appointment was originally scheduled with another hair stylist but an hour before my appointment I got a call saying that the hair stylist I had chosen was still working on another clients highlights. I was offered to come in at my original appointment time with a different hair stylist or move my appointment back two hours to stay with the original hairdresser. I’m flexible and don’t mind who cuts my hair so I went with the new hair stylist since I have things to do and picked the appointment time for a reason. The hair dresser who cut my hair (I won’t name drop) was so passive aggressive. I had about 6 inches cut off. Before we got to 6inches we were at 4inches and the hairdresser asked me how the length looked I replied honestly. I said I would like it a bit shorter. She was instantly irritated and snappy. She was yanking on my head the entire time whipping my head around while she cut my hair. I asked her if she could please show me two inches vs one. she said “you need to make up your mind” then didn’t show me… This made me feel so small and awful. I was just curious since we still were going to do face framing and I had made it very clear I wanted my hair to still fit in a high pony. I’m growing out my platinum hair back to my natural and put that in my notes before the appointment. I told her i stopped dying my hair because I wanted to embrace my natural color she said “that’s a shame”. I didn’t know what she meant by that. I didn’t let that bother me but looking back it’s definitely something worth noting. Since she is the professional I had asked her some advice on layers and what she thinks would look best and she told me “i can’t help you you need to decide”. Her demeanor was honestly awful and it was not a pleasant experience. The hair cut turned out amazing but i’ve had more friendly service at great clips. Another comment she made that made me uncomfortable was when she noticed some uneven parts in the back of my hair. she asked what happened. I told her I’m a scuba diver and the ends of hair got stuck in my gear so i had to yank it out (yes it was extremely painful but i had no choice). She said “why would you tell a hairstylist that. i’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that”. I don’t know if she thought she was being funny? Regardless, I didn’t come in to get judged I came in to pay for a...
Read moreIt has taken me since August to gather the courage to make this review.
I came in for a cut and highlights to celebrate my 40th birthday (my daughter actually paid for the highlights, as a gift). I asked for a shoulder length choppy razor textured haircut with layers no shorter than my cheekbones.
The cut I received was an actual nightmare. I have spent the 5.5 months following this haircut literally crying when I look at myself in the mirror. My self confidence has never been so low. The stylist cut what I can only describe as somewhere between a jellyfish cut and a mullet. I have layers in the BACK that have only now reached where my cheekbones would be. I am attaching a picture where I have blurred my face so you can see for yourself how awful my haircut was.
I did contact the salon who offered to fix it, but tried to pass me to 3-4 different stylists, despite me stating that I was worried about who I might get if I came back in.
Also, my stylist made a huge blob of bleach, from my highlights, just at my part line. Instead of fixing it, she put toner on it, so I have a circle of orange halfway down my hair at this point.
My advice is to RUN FOR YOUR LIFE. I have never felt more scammed in my life, and I think we paid like $450 for these services!!!
Edited to add: Thanks for your “kind” reply or whatever, but the bottom line is this. I can see through your reviews that you are too interested in splitting hairs over irrelevant details to take ownership of what you did.
You say that you are a woman friendly establishment focused on empowering women, and yet instead of taking accountability for the fact that your salon messed up several women’s hair, and those women are uncomfortable having you fix it, you refuse to refund people and try to force women into a situation they aren’t ok with.
You are the opposite of empowering, you don’t respond with empathy, and instead you create a smoke screen of price or whatever else to lead people away from your immoral behavior. I hope others will learn to STAY...
Read moreI cannot rave enough about my experience with Sonja! From the very first consultation, she got me. I came in feeling like a frumpy mom, unsure but ready for a big change—and she lit up with excitement the moment I explained what I was hoping for. She had a full vision right away, and it felt so good to be understood and supported without judgment. On appointment day, she took the time to go over everything again and made sure I hadn’t changed my mind. I was totally in—and what a transformation! We cut off a lot of length and went blonde, and her color work is absolutely incredible. It turned out exactly how I envisioned it—if not better.
Beyond her amazing talent, Sonja made the whole experience so comfortable and enjoyable. She’s warm, easy to talk to, and genuinely kind. The conversation flowed easily, and she checked in regularly to make sure I was doing okay during the process.
The salon itself is gorgeous, with a welcoming vibe and beautiful, clean space. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly and professional. Scheduling was super easy, and communication before my appointment was clear, quick, and helpful—such a breath of fresh air.
Taking this time for myself was a big deal, and now I’m fully committed to seeing Sonja regularly. I left feeling confident, refreshed, and more like me than I have in a long time. If you're thinking about making a change or just want to feel truly taken care of—Sonja is your person. I'm so grateful...
