Tried the Tempe location several years ago and thought it was pretty good but never returned since I'm not in that area much. They just opened the new location across the street from my neighborhood so decided to give it a try again tonight since I didn't want to travel far from the house for food. I wish they would have had the prices listed on their website, I wasn't really looking to spend that much for dinner and like everybody else their prices increased quite a bit. I was disappointed to see a sign saying they are a cashless restaurant, very disappointed in any business that is taking away our precious cash payment and the opportunity to pay with it if we choose to. I hope they reverse this policy, it costs the business money to pay credit card fees so maybe they could offer cheaper pricing if they also allowed cash payment. This is a much bigger issue but I won't go into politics here. With that said, I got two enchiladas and a poblano pepper. Got 2 stuffed with pork and one with chicken. I had it smothered half with green sauce and half with red so that I could try both again. Both were good but I think I like green better. The green has a slight spice to it but nothing terrible. I think I will ask for cheese inside next time as well as they only put it on top. Would be amazing on with both. Extra sauce would be great as well.
Staff was friendly, restaurant clean and new inside. They offer patio seating as well. From what I can see there's no misters, so might not be able to use much longer or during the afternoon even now since it's...
Read moreIt was our first time and we had a great experience. Alexis was great asking if it was our first time in which is great considering they recently opened. It wasn’t busy so I’m sure this helped but he took his time explaining the menu and options. He was really nice and provided service you don’t get often. It’ll be interesting to see if this continues when they are really busy because there were only two on staff.
The food was really good, richer and heavier than I expected. They have a corn/flower mix tortilla or straight corn. I had 3 tacos, bison, beef, and pork. Bison is definitely worth ordering. We even had cheese crisps which wasn’t on the menu. Even the cookies they had were good. My wife’s enchiladas looked great. Suprised they don’t have sides. I will try a salad next time for sure.
I actually like that they are cashless. Saves everyone time and Apple or Google pay is easy to use. They Squares loyalty system which makes it really easy to earn points. We will eat...
Read moreI was very excited to see Gadzooks opened near me at Epicenter recently! Their enchiladas are amazing just like the other locations! They have high quality meats and fillings. My favorite is the guajillo braised short rib and the shredded chicken is flavorful too. Finally they also have a potato and cornbread filling you can get in your enchiladas.
There is a lot you can customize like corn tortillas vs. 50/50 flour/corn tortillas and even a stuffed poblano. Then they have tasty cheeses, red or green smothering sauces, salsas, sour cream, etc. that can be added.
Finally the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff making the food was awesome. The person making the food was patient and provided recommendations for customers new to Gadzooks. He also made my order with 1 tortilla and 1 poblano with no trouble. I really appreciated his customer service and willingness to make our order exactly...
