First of all- I CAN NEVER GO BACK TO NORMAL FOOD AGAIN. If you're willing to Flowers For Algernon your tastebuds, making everything else you've ever had seem like ash in your mouth, then by all means come here. I have always wanted to come in, but I thought it was a bar. I was stupidly wrong and so incorrect, thankfully my boyfriend selected it and did some research into everything. So, from start to finish, I just need to rant about this food: Bread- good bread you can always tell my sound, texture, and flavor. Each one can either add to or detract from the overall meal. This bread was fluffy, it had a better pull than the most gorgeous cheese, and it was both sweet and salty. It elevated the other dishes we got after specifically the Perisian Scallops, making the whole flavor just burst in your mouth. "Starters" A. Persian Scallops: paired with a gorgeous sauce, topped with slices of pepper and paired with a lemon on the side to be utilized to add a beautiful citrus tinge to the tender meat- Perfect, and I'm not ashamed to admit the face, my partner said was priceless. B. My partner got the clam chowder, the seasoning? Spectacular. Beyond words, almost. You could taste not only the freshness of the clams that almost popped on your mouth with a pleasantly salty twinge, the somewhat sweet flavors of the grab, and the actual soup base? Stunning- each spice, the level of creaminess, it all was amazing. Like someone laying a solid foundation of flavors and stacking brick upon brick of masterfully paired ingredients with so much care and delicacy, it made me want to beg for the recipe. And the bread that came with it? No other can compare, a sourdough aged probably over YEARS, I've never had anything quite like it. Steaks: A. My partner got the filet mignon paired with a loaded baked potato, and I must say you REALLY ought to pair it with their chili pepper beverage whose name entirely slipped my mind. The spices of their dry age, the tenderness of the meat, the way it fell apart in your mouth with such amazing texture and unparalleled flavor was mind-boggling. And that baked potato was topped with gorgeous cheese, fresh bacon bits, perfect chives- Literally the best baked potato B. I got the NY strip, which came with the Caesar salad, and I splurged and got the half pound lobster with the clarified seasoned butter and a wedge. I HAVE NEVER, EVER, EVER had such a gorgeous steak- no gristle, fat perfectly rendered. I could eat the steak diagonally, have a lean side and appreciate the spices and the way the steak just seperated with each chew, and then switch to have a juicier bite where the fat would melt and ooze flavor through your whole mouth, and again the chili drink? It just elevated the whole experience and really tied it all together. And the salad was stunning too, they use sweet fem lettuce which has a much better flavor and it was so crisp I'm sure it was blanched in ice water right beforehand, I truly have never had such nice produce, not to mention the sauce? Not a normal Ceasars dressing, with lovely croutons that didn't break my teeth and still packed a punch. My boyfriend ended up devouring it, and it's a lucky day if I can get him to even glance at a green! Dessert: we didn't eat it, by the end we were stuffed, but with all this amazing food we HAD to get the banana pudding, and that is sitting in the fridge waiting to be devoured tomorrow in a desperate attempt to get those amazing flavors refreshed in our head.
Service: Every single waitress and waiter was so kind. They each carried themselves well, and were GRACEFUL as well as fast- They managed to take our plates away and we literally did not notice we were so engrossed in the food and the conversation. They preserved the atmosphere, offered amazing advice, helped with our selection and honestly our waitress was just brilliant. I apparently can't write more so I'll end with this: I will NEVER take my partner anywhere else for a romantic meal, for the price? Its worth every damn penny and the whole experience was...
Read moreLet me start off by saying I absolutely love the Phoenix and Scottsdale location and visit almost every weekend and the service and food is absolutely amazing.
That being said let me explain why this was the worst Buck and Rider experience I have ever had.
We arrived and were seated in the bar as we asked for a table for happy hour. The host was kind and seated us righ away and the server came over to get our drink orders adn intoduce herself and explain that although this seat is in the bar it doesn not qualify for happy hour.
2 tables in the bar were leaving and I asked the waitress if we could be moved to one of the tables to which she said let me ask. She walks over to a shorter woman holding an IPad who looks at me and scoffs with way too much attitude and then proceeds to have an argument with the waitress. She comes back to me and said she was going to get it set up and to give her a minute. 10 minutes had gone by at this point and then the shorter woman walks over to the 2 bar tables and places reserved signs on the two tables. The waitress comes back to us and said our table was ready and then walks us into the amin dining room to which I asked we asked for a bar seat and she responds my manager put us at this table.
Completely floored as we have no idea what is going on at this point we look at eachother and say lets just eat and leave.
Our new waitress comes and greets herself and takes our drink orders. 15 minuted went by no drinks, she comes over and without saying anything about our drinks asks if we are ready to order food.... Where are the drinks?? She responds oh ya we are busy tonight I will see where they are at and proceeds to go into the kitchen ( The completely wrong direction) 8 more minutes go by and finally the drinks come out.
We then order food to which had these problems-
The musles she stated were a full meal with bread- The mussles were more of an appitizer with the bread being at the bottom of the broth soggy. I asked for new bread and she charged me $2 for two tiny pieces that came out 5 minutes later.
The burger was requested medium to which it came out well done and the frys were covered in oil and soggy.
The spicy tuna roll was great.
The salmon was sauted when we asked for it grilled.
the fried chicken was great.
The tuna crisy rice was mediocre.
The French 75's were warm as if they opened a bottle of champagne that was room temp and served them like that- both of them.
The Banana Cream Piw which is my favorite thing in the wold looked like someonme threw some slop on a plate and called it a day, horrible presentation.
This next part has me still in complete shock as to who would ever think this is acceptable to do:
There were two couples at the table and she brough the bill- I had my card on top of my wallet was talking. The watress took my card off my wallet without me looking and ran my card for the entire check dropped my card on the table and said have a great night right as we were clearly looking over the bill and working on splitting it up.
NOPE she took my credit card off my wallet and just ran the check for the full amount as we said to her as she was doing this we were going to split it.
I am mind blown how this Gilbert location lacks all the class of the other two locations. Maybe it is a different owner but all I can say is this location is absolutey horrible in comparrison adn needs to be addressed asap!
Even the ktichen looked like complete chaos with stuff all...

It's extremely loud, many people were being over served and actually yelling and hooting (mostly folks in their mid 20s to early 30s). There is no sound dampening. I'm seeing this more and more so I'm thinking it's maybe a generational thing and perhaps younger people prefer dining in a more raucous environment? I do have to give kudos for the dining room being free of televisions though. That was very nice. We went for my birthday my family didn't tell the restaurant and the server didn't ask if we were there for any special reason. If you want them to apparently they put your name up on the cool train station type board over the bar for celebrations.
As a starter I ordered the seafood gazpacho which was very good, my mom got the butter rolls, also awesome and the guys got raw oysters(they were very happy with them too). I ordered the fresh catch from the restaurant week menu. First course I chose the salad with greens, orange and radish it was quite good but somewhat difficult to eat without a knife, my brother had a salad with romaine and had difficulty eating his too. I had hoped they'd have the john dory but they didn't so I had the mahi for my main. It was ok but a bit overcooked and extremely under seasoned. I added a bunch of salt and pepper and the lemon caper sauce- which had only one caper in it. Had to send back the fries (I requested them very crispy and server said there was no need to specify, that they are always very crispy- they came out soft and limp) my brother tried to order a bottle of wine off of the reserve list that I would like but they didn't have the first two choices we made (they weren't out, they were removing it from the menu- maybe strike it off the list then?) I didn't really care for whatever we ended up with instead but the guys drank it. I got a glass of iced tea. It was quite good but the glasses are tiny about the size of a Collins glass and full of ice so I had to keep asking for refills which I felt awkward about. The dinner came with a cookie and gelato for dessert. I had the pistachio gelato and was delighted that they don't dye it green; the cookie that came with mine got dropped on the floor on the way to the table so I got a fresh hot one a bit later and it was really good. My mom got banana cream pie and it was delicious. The manager came after dinner and apologized about the wine and the fries and comped 50 bucks off of the bottle of wine which was nice of her. All in all a pleasant experience just...
