Epic Gaming — Local services in Gladstone

This used to be my favorite LGS. They have large game nights and I enjoyed the atmosphere.

Took a collection of mid-high value cards in, after they failed to respond to my emails.

Waited a few days and finally got an offer on my cards. Offer was ridiculously low. I said no thanks, I'll come get my cards.

As soon as I said I wasn't interested Steve was rude over the phone. Tried arguing with me about the value of the cards, their condition, etc.

I told him I wasn't interested in arguing and would simply come get my cards.

Went in an hour later and Lo and behold, some were missing.

I mentioned this to Steve. I noticed his hands were obviously shaking. As soon as I said something about the missing cards he got extremely defensive. He acted like I had accused him directly (which I did not, I understand mistakes sometimes happen).

He then tried to escalate the situation, raising his voice in the crowded store and yelling at me in front of dozens of people. It was Friday night, they were hosting a game night.

Steve continued to yell at me, even as I walked out.

I will financially be okay with the loss. But it makes me very sad that a small local business would resort to this sort of behavior. I also see from the reviews this is not the only time this has happened...

I'll be going to Guardian Games...

Been coming here for years, and it has always been a very welcoming and fun environment, with those behind the counter consistently producing great customer service and are always willing to help. The community there is a joy, and extremely accepting of any and all sorts of people. Those who show kindness and respect are shown that in return, personally it has become a second home, where I can feel free to be myself and enjoy a good afternoon surrounded by friends. On another note, there is always a good selection of quality product and reasonable pricing given the state of market prices and inflation, and they always have their pricing clearly labeled and any information about sales around the holidays and such are easy to spot. Their website is easy to navigate, and houses a calendar that readily shows events and lays out the month by month happenings for the store. It’s quite easy to find a reason to pop over and...

Great shopping experience. Very friendly staff who will really make the effort to get to know you rather than just see you as another customer. I especially appreciate that they'll not only talk to you about the many games they offer, but will even offer to play with you during down-time. (They'll quickly address any concerns at the counter, so it's not like they're slacking off from their jobs either!) Overall the people working here have alone made this store stand out from others in the PDX area!

Great selection of products (Numerous card, miniatures, and board Games). If they don't have something you want or need, they'll do everything in their power to get it for you.

Overall, excellent service with amazing staff who are willing to provide a great place to meet and game. I continue to recommend this shop to every one of my friends, as I've rarely found...
