I visited this location today and the experience was yucky to say the very least. This entire review is my opinion to which I am entitled. When I entered the Goose Creek Antique Mall, I saw one Caucasian male customer, one Caucasian female customer, and that's it. Therefore, I found it EXTREMELY ironic that as I looked around, the two employees that were working both found an excuse to end up in the exact same booth that I was in. I was viewing two artificial Palm Trees and the first employee found her way to me. As soon as she left, the other employee came in pretending to strike a conversation. Listen, if you are going to follow me because I am Black and Beautiful, please perfect the art of doing so. Don't be so obvious! The irony of the entire matter is that while you are following one race assuming that they are going to stuff Palm Trees and dusty items into their designer purses, others are free to stuff merchandise in their purses and go free. How are you so disrespectful, yet you want my money? I REFUSE to reward bad behavior and I will not sell my soul for trees or anything else! Vendors, perhaps your merchandise sits idle and dusty because certain customers are treated badly. I am wonderfully BLESSED and whatever I want, GOD has ALWAYS provided. I will not return, and I will share this nasty experience! Of course when I brought the issue to her attention, she denied everything....Of course she would. Who actually admits to following black customers in stores? So now, not only are you disrespectful, but you are also a liar. Stop it! Your integrity is questionable, not mine. If only I could...
Read moreA bit of a hidden gem, I could (and have!) spent many hours finding treasures here. My wife and I have always enjoyed bringing our friends and family to explore the booths, supporting small business, and reveling in the rediscovery of items we thought were lost to nostalgia. For several years now, it’s even been our annual tradition to purchase only secondhand holiday items. The Goose Creek Antique Mall has been one of our favorite “secret” spots to source from. We’ve always looked around our home with joy knowing some of the coolest and most eclectic items were found here.
However, due to recent events, it will be a long time (if ever) before we walk through their doors again. While every business owner has a right to their personal beliefs, publicly doubling down on exclusionary rhetoric (especially in a space that should feel welcoming to all) sends a clear message about whose presence is truly valued in their store. It’s disheartening to see a place that once felt like a small haven for collectors and antique lovers prioritize divisive politics over community.
As a small business owner and artist myself, I deeply respect the individual booth vendors who make this space what it is. I hope they continue to thrive. But as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I can no longer invest my free time, money, or care into a business that so openly disregards the dignity and comfort of its customers. A place that profits from pieces of the past should be more thoughtful about the future they’re creating and what they choose to do or say with...
Read moreVisited 3 times last year when visiting SC & purchased $100's in merchandise. Was excited to revisit this year ... but unfortunately encountered the owner. She was surly, rude, hyper-manic & very unpleasant. When I inquired about the cost of a pricey item that wasn't in great shape & if there was any negotiating- she crisply & curtly shut me down. She unecessarily & foolishly continued by stating there are no discounts/negotiations & if any of her employees in her store offers them, they'd "be in trouble". Just WOW! Feel sorry for the vendors, employees - but mostly paying customers.
On the flip side, each employee (especially Jo) has been over the top pleasant & helpful. Good items, most at fair prices. The owner could learn ALOT from her employees & vendors should she decide for some self-reflection. Hope she does, she's got very nice vendors...
