The manager was less knowledgeable than I expected for someone who owns a game store. (I asked him about one of the most popular family weight drafting games released this century and he didn't recognize it.) It seems they have significantly decreased their inventory recently and are favoring more expensive games, with few games under $20 in stock. (There are plenty of good entry level games for those entering our hobby, but very few were available.) And while they display loyalty in making their regular customers feel comfortable, they aren't as attentive to new visitors.
