Fuji Japanese restaurant — Restaurant in Grand Rapids

Stopped in here on my way back from towing a vehicle, never heard of the place but the girlfriend wa a craving sushi so we stopped in. All these good reviews before this review must have had a different staff because the service was awful.

They definitely were understaffed in the server department but there was absolutely no reason for the one server to cash out all her checks before taking our drink order... took a good 10 minutes before the drink order, then the place was nearly empty and I waved her down for the food order. Well, you probably guessed it, she continued to cash out checks and bus tables and talk to the cooks BEFORE taking our order. 30 minutes passed and I told my girlfriend if she doesn’t stop at the table next time she walks by we are walking out.

By some miracle she did and took the order and didn’t have a good attitude about it at all, there also was some kid who must’ve been her nephew because he just kept getting in her way and pushing her buttons and intentionally making her job difficult.

Got the food relatively quick, and the food was just okay, not the best sushi I’ve ever had.

Overall, you guys seriously need to work on a better system for the servers, or hire on more people. I hope to return in the future and have a better dining experience than what...

Well I’ve only ever had one server while eating here and I’m not sure her name. She isn’t very friendly, which is fine I suppose but today was the worst. We had very poor service today. She started taking our order, didn’t write much of it down. Never brought us the wine that was ordered. Or the correct rice order we had. 2 of us had rice that wasn’t cooked enough and told her. She told us that no one else complained. Not sure how that really mattered to what we were saying. She takes the rice plates that had a couple bites out each. THEN charges us for rice that she took away barely eaten. Then claimed we ate most of it. When i can assure you we did not. Very unhappy & can’t believe the service we received today. Don't get me wrong, I love the food. The sushi is amazing. However whenever I go there it takes usually around 20 minutes to get our drink order taken and probably around 30 by the time we get just our drinks and order. Then it takes about 20 to 30 minutes to get your food maybe even longer. I'm pretty patient with this as I know everything is hand rolled. However they say everything takes about 45 to an hour on here and you're out the door but you wont get your food until an hour in. Refills are very sparing. Then after you're finished eating it takes another 20 minutes just for the check. And when you get the incorrect change and have to wait another 15 minutes to talk to the waitresses and then argue with her and then finally get your correct change and are...
