Leigh's — Local services in Grand Rapids

I discovered Leigh's on Instagram. I'm an ad exec. and run a small consulting business in Chicago, so keeping up on the latest trends — let alone shopping — can be hard to fit into my busy schedule. Luckily Leigh's rep. Jen Dockery has made it very easy to find staple pieces for my closet, and branch out of my comfort zone by suggesting cutting edge designers.

We've been conducting the styling online and through shipments, with Jen suggesting items and me sending her photographs for her feedback on the outfits she's put together. I'm always so impressed with her brand and industry knowledge, yet she never makes me feel intimidated. Jen's always been informative and encouraging, and the looks she's put together for me have helped with my overall happiness and self-esteem.

After a year and a half of doing business with Jen remotely, I decided I needed to see Leigh's in real life. I recently scheduled some business meetings in the Grand Rapids area so I could make a special visit to Leigh's, meet Jen and see where all the inspiration and styling magic dwells.

Being in the store was an absolute delight, and I was so thrilled to finally meet Jen in person, along with her devoted team. Everyone made me feel welcome and we joked that I was "a stan" for Leigh's. And it's true.

Yeah, didn’t love this place. I really like shopping at Anthropologie and madewell in this area. I had always heard good things about Leigh’s so decided to try it for an outfit for an upcoming event. It’s Michigan winter, so I went in with my big snow boots and bundled up in my jacket with comfy weekend jeans. Immediately when walking in an employee greeted me with the most uncomfortable hello as she looked me up and down with a super judgmental face. The person who helped me try on clothes was so cold and unfriendly. It was one of the most uncomfortable shopping sessions I’ve ever had. I ended up just snapping photos of the things I liked and bought them straight from the designer’s sites online because it was the same price.

If you want to get quality clothing that is going to be classy and classic, then Leigh’s is the place to shop. The selection is great, and they always have a wide variety of casual clothing as well as evening attire. You never have to worry about showing up somewhere and having the same outfit on as another woman because they don’t carry more than a limited quantity of each garment. They also have great accessories. I like the location of Leigh’s because of the amount of parking and the convenience of its proximity to others places I like to shop.
