Grand Lakes — Restaurant in Grand Rapids

Really, how can anyone call this food, sorry, crap!!! First, I’m a part time chef and grew up with a mother that was a gourmet cook. Breakdown, walk in & order, ask for water, don’t have any, only water is to buy, SORRY I DONT ‘BUY’ WATER!!! Ordered sweet & sour pork. First thing noticed is he pulls a bag of premade pork out of freezer, really? Then I notice he spoons the ‘fryed’ rice from a bag, again really? Now we get the crap food, the rice is yellow, yes traffic light yellow, NO FLAVOR, no NOTHING else in the rice, no meat onions, NOTHING, just yellow rice, would rather have wanted white rice! The pork, 😔 UNBELIEVABLE, some pieces had no meat, most meat pieces were about the size of a dime, with the coating three times that size, and as for flavor, pieces were so small couldn’t taste them. Now the egg roll, JUST OK, yep, JUST OK, again they were made by a larger company and bagged up! Only ate most of the egg roll, some of the pork, two spoons of rice AND THREW IT ALL AWAY, TERRIBLE!🤮 wife had some kind of finger rib lets, pre made by who ever, color was almost purple, and TERRIBLE!!! How can anyone eat...

Been coming here since 2005 always good food except last week I ordered roast pork and mushroom the pork was WAY over cooked. So I called and said some thing about it and they told me to bring the food back they can “inspect” it I guess I don’t know why it’s not like they are gonna bite into the leather pork they served me. So I waited 3 days and called in 4 entrees for my friends and family I showed up with the pork and mushroom and they were upset I don’t speak Chinese but I understand emotion and body language that man was mad every time I looked in his eyes he looked down or away. It’s ok to mess up food but it’s. Not ok to throw things and scream because you messed up. It Happens i know I’ve been cooking for years as a job. It’s a shame because you lost a customer...

This was my first time getting food here, so my review is only based off of one experience. I had the shrimp with lobster sauce combo. They got my order wrong, for starters, but about the actual food: pros are that the egg roll was pretty good and the shrimp were a good size. Cons are that the fried rice seemed like it had been sitting out all day. It was dry and a bit crusty. It was rather bland and personally I like it when they put veggies and eggs in it, which this fried rice didn't have. The shrimp with lobster sauce had about 6 shrimp with about 12 peas, so about half the container was filled mostly with lobster sauce. So the next time I have a craving for Chinese, I'll be getting...
